Description

See it, slay it.

The sun may have blinded your park landings in the past, but with the easily swappable lens of the Oakley Airbrake Goggle, you'll be able to stomp it all in any light. The glove-friendly, pivoting Switchlock technology lets you pop the lens out of the frame and replace it with one that better matches the mountain's conditions. The Airbrake comes with two Plutonite lenses that block out 100% of UVA, UVB, UVC, and harmful blue rays; more lens options are available separately. But no matter how you filter the light, the rigid outer frame and flexible inner frame with its three-layer fleece foam liner offer a great fit and all-day comfort. Dual top lens vents and F3 Fog Technology prevent interior condensation during hikes and after falls, and interchangeable strap outriggers let you fine-tune the fit either with or without a helmet.

  • Switchlock interchangeable lens system
  • Two shades of Plutonite lenses
  • O-Matter (urethane) frame
  • Dual lens and F3 Fog Technology
  • Helmet-compatible outriggers

Great goggle but expensive

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The goggles fit great and are extremely comfortable. They fit a lot bigger than A frames or Crowbars and the added size gives you a great field of view. The lenses are also way easier to change than the A frames and can be done in less than a minute if conditions change. Oakley gives you two lenses which makes the price a little more understandable but for overall performance of the goggle it is very comparable to other Oakley models

Great goggle but expensive

Good Goggles

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Most of Oakley's products are very good. I particularly like the style of these goggles and that they come with lens for both low light and sunny conditions. The case they come with is nice too.

Typical Oakley

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Typical Oakley quality and construction. Lenses are easy to change. Comes with a sunny lens for bluebird days and a low light/contrast lens for overcast and dump days so your pretty much covered for whatever the mountain (or hill here in WI) throws at you. Make sure you go to Oakley's website and look at their lens tints under "innovation" tab then to "optical superiority" to ensure you get the right lens for your needs.

All time

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Airbrake is a great goggle for anyday. The lens changing system is futuristic and works really well. Compared to the Smith I/O changing out the lens is as easy or easier. Clean design and well functioning. I would say this goggle is one of the best on the market hands down.

Great vision but...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The HI Yellow lense is awesome for low light condition were everything looks white.
Wide field of view, no distortion, confortable.
Lense swapping system is easy to use an looks rugged.
BUT...
In cold conditions (-20C), they freeze instantly on the outside. I suspect the double layering to be guilty. Outside lense stays very cold and breath humidity instantly freezes on it. My good old lenses don't do that.
Also, they won't hold onto my helmet when I don't wear them. They either slip onto my face or behind my head.
The strap adjustment is centered when fully extended so it interfere with the holding thing on the helmet.
For the price, that should not be.

I swear by these!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Awesome goggle! You can swap the lens while you are skiing if you really want, its that easy. I keep my spare lens on me at all times and it is so great because I can always adapt to light conditions. Super comfy. Feels great on my face. Never fogs. Buy these!

Great goggles.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I switched to these from the trusty A Frames.
Great fit (a little larger overall than the A Frames).
The lens swap feature works well and is fast.
Seems to vent better than older Oakley goggles.

definitely worth it!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

most people look at the price of these goggles and question if it's really worth it, well I can tell you that they definitely are! I have the hi-yellow and dark grey lenses which is all you really need, however a lens that operates well in low and high light would be nice to have on the days where you aren't sure what the weather plans on doing. I have just thrown the lenses in my jacket, but that isn't always the best idea since it is expensive to replace the lenses. overall the quality and performance of these goggles are virtually unbeatable in comparison to the other interchangeable goggles on the market. highly recommend! (they also fit nice with poc helmets)

Get these goggles, you'll thank yourself

These things are unbelievable, get them now. The lens changing system is super easy to use and gives you a options as light conditions very. Plus, Oakley has a HUGE lens selection so you can go nuts. I have the high intensity yellows for storm days and the fire and emerald iridium lenses for sunny days, these are the best lenses in my opinion. The foam on these goggles is also pretty great, they stay comfy on your face all day and even if you're sweating like crazy they aren't too bad.

These are pretty large goggles but will fit fine with that helmet. The windshield fit feature on the helmet makes it easy to wear a variety of goggles with it.

Great Pair to wear for 100+ days/yr

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased the airbrake in white with the dark grey, and yellow lenses inDecember 2011. I immediately noticed that the nose cone was a little bigger than that of the a frame. No big deal for me, but if your eyes are very close together this may be an issue. The lense clarity is amazing, and the fit of these goggles is superb with my giro helmet. I wear these on the snow every single day of the winter, the quick change lenses are fast enough to change without a ski school student noticing on the lift! I have a crack down the center of my dark lens (don't fall on your lenses). I would suggest keeping the spare lens in your ave pack. After 2 full seasons and over 200 days on the slopes with these goggles. The foam, and cloth inner liners of these goggles still look brand new, the silicone in the inside of the goggle band has JUST started to wear, there's only one thing to say:I'll be using these for seasons to come!

Great Pair to wear for 100+ days/yr

New fascination

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Fell in love with these this season! Never have I had a goggle that allows me to change the lens out so easily! I always carry all different lenses in my trunk. Once i get up to the mountain i pick the lens that will be best for the day and boom, I am on my way!

Big, but sweet

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just got a pair of these and haven't used them in the Utah summer yet, but my first impressions are pretty good. I like this Oakley goggle much more than their previous models because of the style and the wider view these goggles afford. With the wider view comes a larger goggle, so if you have a smallish face, these will drown you. Good looking goggle and I am looking forward to some snow!

Best Goggle Ever

I love this goggle, it has a great fov and can change lenses incredibly fast with the switchlock technology so you can swap lenses according to the weather conditions. It comes with two lenses and a travel case so it is worth the money. It fits great with my Bern helmet and the outriggers help out with the pressure on your face. The Smith I/OX would be my only other option for goggles. It is very comparable to the airbrakes and you can't go wrong with either purchase.

Great Goggle!

This goggle is great for any skier. It has a fast way of swapping lens. Within 30secs you can switch from a low-light lens to a bright lens. The lens are very durable and scratch resistant, meaning most scratches can be buffed out with the micro-fibre case that is included. The handy carrying case makes it easy to store your goggles when not in use. The FOV (field of visoin) is very wide and allows you to maximize your vision while skiing. The shape of the goggle fits to most helmets. I have the Bern Macon and it fits perfectly to the helmet leaving no gap. Overall these goggles are great and i would suggest them to anyone. However, if Oakley isn't your thing than the Smith I/O or I/OX are a great option as well. All 3 of these goggles a basically identical with small differences.

9000 feet on a bluebird day. Blacl iridium lenses were clutch!
I've been riding since 1986 and these are the sickest goggles I've ever used. Lens switch-out took less time than removing or storing the lenses in the bag.

Great Product

Well designed switchable lens goggle. Easy to switch lens while riding the lift without smudging the lens. Comfortable fit and strap fits a helmet well. Large assortment of replacement lenses available down to 90% VLT if you ski in snowy or night conditions.
