Disappointing

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

This is so cute, but the sizing is bizarre and the fabric felts when washed according to the label. My average sized baby wore this a total of 4 times and grew out of the length of the 6-12 month size before he ever even reached 6 months of age. The shoulders were plenty wide, so I suspect it was supposed to fit a baby built like a short linebacker. The length fit best when he was barely 3 months (just 50th percentile for his height)

I have a lot of merino so I've very familiar with it's care. I always wash this in cold on the hand wash cycle and hang it to dry but after just 4 washings it's 100% felted wool. This is the only merino item I've ever owned that has felted. There are still several months of winter left and I wish we could still use this to keep the little guy warm, but it's so short, the buttons just pop open and the fabric feels heavy and scratchy instead of soft and snugly. For what I paid, I really expected something better and I wish it wasn't too late to return this. So disappointing :(
