My husband got this right before we went wake boarding on a cooler day. Fit well, kept him warm, and protected him from the sun. Overall, great last minute purchase.

I sun burn easy, and tend to be cold natured. This shirt does the trick all year round when I am kayaking. In summer it protects me from the sun, in winter it is a good base layer, and year round it prevents rashes. Mine has help up well over two years of use. It fits snug, but true to size.

If it weren't for the stitching, I would give this product 5 stars. It is great for those days when the drips from your paddle coupled with a cool breeze are prepping your nipples to cut glass. The fabric hugs tight, holding in heat while still giving the ladies a show. Quick drying, it also tends to stay cool for those days when the sun is playing hide and go seek behind the clouds. Just like its long sleeve counterpart, this shirt's stitching has a tendency to unravel after a few uses. This can be remedied by CAREFULLY melting the threads where they double back over themselves.
Also, I'm 5'9 170# and athletically built, I wear a medium.

While a true rash guard is for surfing, I use mine for kayaking and whitewater rafting and I love it. It has UV protection, it dries quickly, it provides a layer of insulation, and it protects against minor scrapes and bumpgs. In warmer weather, you can wear it because it dries quickly yet provides UV protection. In cooler weather, you can wear it because it dries quickly yet provides an insulating layer. The sizes seem true to form and while it is tight and form-fitting, it is not restricting at all. It seems a lot more durable than a run-of-the-mill surfer brand rash guard.
