Sometimes it rains more in the winter.

If the creek is on the rise, but the temperatures take a dive, put on the seam-taped NRS Endurance Jacket for some wicked winter whitewater. The 2.5-layer HyproTex ripstop shell is waterproof and breathable for an all-day gnar session or just a float on a rainy day. Before you shove off, adjust the hook-and-loop neck and wrists and tighten the shock-cord around your waist so no water gets in and ruins your favorite narrows section. Keep a ten-spot in the water-resistant, zippered shoulder pocket in case you need to bribe a local for a shuttle back to your van.

Good splash jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great choice when looking for a light splash jacket to keep you comfortable when staying completely dry is not essential. Good use in warmer weather and when you can change back to dry clothes when done. With the adjustable neck and wrist seals and light material you can keep from overheating when carrying your boat to and from the river. While I love this for its purpose, the written promo description is WAY off base. It states for use in "wicked winter whitewater???" Are you kidding me? Hey, this is a splash jacket and a good one. But the rubber/velcro wrist and neck seals are not going to keep you completely dry. It is very light and packs up small, which is good. The material is not super durable and I have torn the sleeve on a rock. But it is easy to repair the material. In summary a great light splash jacket that I am pleased with, but absolutely not for "all-day gnar session!"

Worked perfectly.

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought it for my first rafting trip which was in early October in PA. It was a a little chilly but this jacket was perfect. Kept me very dry and I almost had to take it off because it kept me warm. Good product!

Great for cool weather

I have this jacket and use it when the temps are too cool to paddle with just a rash guard, but it won't cut it if the temps are below 65 or so. The neck and wrist gasket won't keep all of the water out, but it is a great spray jacket for late spring/ early fall. For real winter whitewater you will need a dry top.

Is this a full waterproof jacket or is it...

Is this a full waterproof jacket or is it more of a splash jacket? I don't know much about the different designs but the jackets I have used had like a stretch rubber that was extremely tight at the neck, wrists, and waist. Is that what this has when they say urethane?

Thanks, Jason

seriously? whoever wrote the description has probably never worn this jacket or paddled. Consider this jacket that weaksauce little wind breaker tucked away in your closet that you hardly use. Its more of a splash jacket for sure. It better be REALLY warm when you use this. That cold weather talk is crazy, you get what you pay for. If your facing cold weather get ready to spend 200-300 bucks on a jacket.
