Futuristic design for all-mountain awesomeness.

What does urban rail-slayer Frank April and backcountry legend Devun Walsh have in common? They both ride the Now IPO Snowboard Binding, thanks to its soft, yet responsive feel and revolutionary design.

The Hanger baseplate has a hinge, inspired by the dynamics of a skateboard truck, that acts as a fulcrum to quickly and efficiently transfer energy from edge to edge. This means that instead of flexing your baseplate on turns, all of your energy goes directly to the edge, ultimately reducing foot fatigue and leg pain while improving response. Bushings at the contact points between the baseplate and the board reduce chatter for a smoother ride and prevent board breakage. The IPO includes medium- and soft-density bushings that are interchangeable depending on whether you prefer more dampening or more response.

The Flex Hinge highback has a soft lateral flex so you can tweak tricks and turn smoothly. Flushcup technology makes the highback sit above the heelcup so that the back of your boot is flush with both the highback and the heelcup, which not only improves response, but also gives you the option of riding highback-less with the Highcup insert (not included) for the ultimate surfy feeling. The IPO also includes a Channel system disc in addition to the 4X4 pattern disc so you can ride it with any major board brand on the market.

  • Flex Hinge highback with Flushcup tech
  • Hanger baseplate with Skate-Tech
  • Includes soft and medium bushings
  • 3-D ankle and toe straps
  • Tool-less strap adjustment
  • Includes 4X4 disc and Channel disc

These bindings did not work for me...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Out of the box these looked amazing; great quality, squishy footbed, and two different kinds of bushings to reduce chatter. However, these did not work for me in the trees. They do have a looser feel which is good for groomers and jumps, but I had a hard time making quick turns in the trees. The lower highback did not seem responsive enough and the heel-to-toe turn took way too much effort to the point that I almost hit a tree. These bindings also created uncomfortable pressure points in the inner ankles of my boots that I have not experienced with other bindings. Too bad I really wanted these to work.

What size binding would go for a size 9 - 9,5 boot?

Longer days at the mountain

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been on Now since day one and the new Chassis is awesome. They used to run a aluminum disc under foot and now its a fiberglass reinforced plastic. This gives the binding a softer flex and really differentiates the IPO from the Drive. If you are lapping the park and hitting jumps you will love the free flex high backs. They never seem to get in the way yet the offer great support. Skate tech is amazing !! this design enables you to put less energy into your toe /heal. Gives you more energy to crank out tricks with your crew. I like to call them the rocker of the binding world. Technology that makes snowboarding easier..
