Description

Shoes NOT made for walking.

Admittedly, we fell in love with Northwave way back when it was only making snowboard boots. Its products gave a whole new meaning to the phrase 'attention to detail.' Since moving into cycling shoes in 1993, Northwave has revolutionized the industry with products like Venus SBS Cycling Shoes. The Venus is packing features that most companies only include in their top-tier designs, and at top-tier pricing. This full-featured shoe is a perfect example of Northwave's commitment to performance, and a perfect example of what sets it apart.

The carbon-reinforced soleplate is much stiffer and thinner than other, less costly sole materials to provide more efficient power transfer. Northwave uses only natural rubber in its soles because natural rubber provides superior grip on wet or muddy terrain. The Venus also features Omega Heel, which is designed to provide traction and protection and features rear vents that let hot air leave the shoe. The SBS (Step By Step) ratcheting system provides stable closure that won't come undone or loosen up while you ride. It allows you to dial in a precise fit so you can maximize pedaling efficiency without having to deal with hot spots and blisters.

Overheating is a non-issue with Northwave's advanced Airflow ventilation system. Large mesh vents on the sides work with the lower vent channels to keep a constant supply of fresh air moving through the shoe. The ventilated Performance Advanced footbed with lightweight anatomical arch support guarantees an excellent pedaling position, and the breathable microfiber upper lets your foot regulate its temperature naturally.

Northwave Venus SBS Women's Shoes come in White/black/red. They are available in whole sizes 36 to 43 and half sizes 39.5 to 42.5.

  • Comfortable, Y-shaped heel cup to prevent heel lift while ensuring a secure fit
  • Performance Advanced footbed supports the contours of the foot, eliminating discomfort and hotspots
  • Designed specifically around a woman's foot—unlike your boyfriend's hand-me-downs

Great shoe!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have a high arch and wide feet which has made finding a shoe very difficult. Thankfully I stumbled upon these shoes after trying on various Shimano, Giro, Sid and Louis Garneau. I've had this pair for two months and they are perfect. They are light and the ratchet strap make it very easy to just reach down and loosen them with the push of a button. Highly recommended!

Great shoe!

Hi,

I'm interested in buying these for indoor cycling....not sure if they are the right shoe. The other thing is...are the cleats/clip included? If not...how do you know which cleat/clip to buy?

Hey Lisa,

Cleats normally come with the pedals and not the shoe.

My guess is you are looking to use these in a cycling class, in which case the pedals that classes typically use are compatible with the cleats I have posted below. If that's that case you are actually going to need a shoe that is two hole compatible instead of these which are 3 hole compatible. I would check first with your instructor to see what kind of pedals they use.

Most spin classes and gyms use SPD (not "SPD-SL") cleats. Also, you might consider a shoe that is more like a mountain bike shoe.

Road shoes (like these) are difficult to walk in and can make you slip and fall very easily on smooth surfaces (like the tiled floors of a gym). You can't drive in road shoes either.

Mountain bike shoes or rec/touring shoes will have a normal tread on the bottom and will be much easier to walk around in--so much so that you can wear them when driving to the gym, walk to your class, and drive home in them--which you cannot do in road shoes.

Perfect Fit

These are my second pair of road bike shoes this season. I have Northwave MTB shoes and love the fit so much, I decided to see how these would do on my road bike. I took them out last night for their first ride, they were absolutely perfect. My feet are a little wider than normal so it isn't easy for me to find a comfortable cycling shoe. My last shoes would cause my feet to fall asleep which made for some uncomfortable rides, that did not happen once last night. I went for a 35 mile ride with quite a bit of climbing and these were light, they kept my feet cool in 80 degree weather and they made a world of difference as far as comfort was concerned. I usually wear a size 37 but decided to size up to a 38 and I am glad I did. I enjoyed the ratchet system and its ease of use, I was able to reach down while riding and loosen the strap when I needed to. I am fairly certain I have found my new favorite pair of road shoes that will last me many, many miles.

Hey NG,

Thanks for your question. The weight of these shoes is 622g/pair and that is taken from a size 42.
