Description

Team favorite.

It's not hard to see why the Decade SL Men's Snowboard Boot is preferred choice of the Northwave team. The Super Lace lacing system makes it a breeze to adjust the tightness of the upper and lower zones of the boots so you can crank it down when you're getting gnarly in the backcountry and loosen it up when you want to get jibby in the park. The Flex Window in the shell allows for greater articulation, without sacrificing support. A heat moldable TF3 liner gives you the option to custom fit the boot before you even get it on the hill. The 540 degree heel retention system fights heel lift for a telepathic connection to your setup. Plus, it has a Double Crossbow outsole that smooths out harsh chatter. Leave no side hit, rail setup, or pillow line untouched.

Um.. What the hell happened!?

I have been wearing Northwave boots since discovering their wider fit in 2008. I've had two pair of this specific model from previous seasons. This year they took cutting corners to the next level and pretty much cut this boot in half. All of the reinforced support structure on the liner has been removed. ENTIRELY! Just a foam booty in there. They also did away with the cats tongue material in the heel pocket. (slides smoothly slipping into the boot but creates friction coming out to reduce heel lift) They also fit much much tighter in the toe box and instep. My normal size crushed my wider foot, combined with the HUGE downgrade in the liner these were promptly returned. I couldn't tell you how the new model performs but compared to previous models, I was sorely disappointed. I'm now on the hunt for the perfect pair of wider boots. Fingers crossed for some redesign on next years model.

Kyle,

Did you manage to find a replacement for this wide boot? I am currently hunting down a pair that will fit my wider feet without much luck.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. We're still upgrading community features. I have yet to solve my boot conundrum. I've been using an old pair that's still getting me by for now. I haven't been snowboarding as frequently lately due to less than optimal snow. I would suggest you look into the wide specific models from Salomon. I don't have any in stock but you can peep them via the link.

Also if you don't have megga wide feet you may have some good luck with Ride, K2 and ThirtyTwo boot brands. The models will fluctuate a bit but those 3 brands offer Intuition liners. They are magic and can not only compress when heat molded as all heat mold-able liners, but can also expand to fill in extra volume in odd areas for a perfect fit.
