Are these shoes good for indoor cycling at the gym?

These would work fine. MTB shoes are a bit easier to walk around in than road shoes. These shoes do not come with cleats so you will need to pick up some of those as well. Check the bikes at the gym for the type of pedal, more than likely it will be an SPD. Cleats can be found here:http://www.backcountry.com/store/SHI0122/Shimano-America-SPD-Cleat-Sets.html?

This is old, but not all cycling shoes will be compatible with SPD cleats. These specific ones however are. Generally look for a two hole design (the two lines in the center of the ball of the foot on the bottom) rather than a 3 hole design for them to be compatible.
