Description

You don't have to own the bank to get it all.

The Northwave Fighter S.B.S. Shoe is not going to come up short—unless short means more money in your wallet. Built around a carbon-reinforced sole with Northwave's Omega heel for maximum control, the Fighter S.B.S. doesn't shoot from the hip, rather, it takes careful aim and fires. Two hook-and-loop straps work in tandem with the micro-adjust buckle, conveniently removing 'sloppy-fit' from your vocabulary.

  • Performance Advanced footbed offers ample arch support and eliminates hotspots
  • Super-stiff sole transfers power straight to your pedals
  • Polyurethane upper with comfort airmesh for cool feet during sweltering rides
  • Micro-adjust buckle makes in the saddle adjustments simple

I bought these to replace some Pearl Izumi All Road shoes that I used with Shimano SPD cleats. I wanted a true road shoe but I'm on a limited budget so these fit the bill. I had tried on a pair of the Fighter shoes, no ratchet strap, in a LBS so I knew my size was a 43. My PI shoes were also a 43. I wear between a 9 and 9 1/2 shoe in US sizes. I bought the Fighter SBS over a Giro shoe that I tried on in a different LBS because the Northwave shoe was a bit roomier in the toe box. The Giro's seemed like a good shoe but they were a bit too tight for my liking. I went with some Speedplay Light Action pedals and cleats and have put about 150 miles on the shoe/cleat/pedal combo and I'm a happy rider at this point. The shoes fit and feel great.

These shoes are still breaking in for me, but I'm very happy with the fit and stiffness. I'm coming off a pair of entry-level shoes that I actually cracked the sole on both cleats. These Northwave's are much much stiffer and overall fit is great. In my case, they ran a little small and I had to send the first pair back for a larger size, but realcyclist made the exchange easy. Again, these are stiff, comfortable and the closure straps/ratchet keep everything nice and snug. I even went with the blue color and love the looks of the shoe.

I typically wear a 10.5 and that's what I ordered these shoes in. Unfortunately, I'm in the process of exchanging for a half size bigger. The 10.5 is snug, but I need just a little more wiggle room. My first experience with Northwave and I got the blue/white (they look so sick). everything about them feels quality from just riding around the parking lot, but I had to order a half size bigger.
