Extremely rad.

It's obvious that Northwave's Italian designers dumped all their all energy into designing the Extreme Shoe—not naming it. Constructed using an Ultralight Carbon sole and three hook-and-loop straps, the Extreme shoe enters the market as one of the lightest shoes available, and light shoes mean less rotational weight, which means you go faster. Northwave used their Biomap technology to create a stitchless upper, effectively shaving grams while maximizing comfort. The Extreme Air footbed provides ample arch support while eliminating hotspots so you can leave the suffering to your legs—not your feet.

  • Ultralight Microfiber upper wraps feet like a burrito for comfort
  • Three superlight hook-and-loop straps prevent shifting when it's time to sprint

A+ for performance/comfort

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size
  • Height: 05'11"
    Weight: 135 lbs
    Size Purchased: 44.5

I wanted shoes shoes that pretty much disappeared when you put them on - these are it! Fits perfectly to my feet, feels essentially weight less, and the wood insert really absorbs vibration while keeping the feel. Great for climbing. 1000 miles in (also, I bought them here a while back when they were about $100!)

Love them!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

These are wicked light, and very rigid. I bought these because Backcountry had them on sale and I needed a new pair of shoes. I was so impressed after using these that I am debating buying another pair. They are very light and super rigid which makes a noticeable difference when riding. They are definitely summer/spring/fall shoes, not winter. They are very breathable, which is good, but when riding on a frigid winter morning, your feet will freeze. I just bought some shoe covers, and voila, problem solved. You won't be disappointed with these.

A bit small

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

This runs smaller than other brands I've used. The 43 I got is about the same as my 42s in Shimano, LG, Specialized, and Bontrager

Great shoe for wider feet

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

I wear a 46 sidi; the NW 45.5 is almost as long. I wear a size 11 dress shoe; as most of you know the size charts on cycling shoes have no relation to dress shoe sizes.

The shoe is really impressively light. But I have AA narrow feet, and even cranking down on the straps and wrinkling the stiff upper, i just couldn't get past the cavernous toe box.

The weight weenie in me wanted to like the shoe, but i had to return it.

I would like to order but I wear a Giro...

I would like to order but I wear a Giro HV (high volume) size 43. Another site said go down on half size but I have other 43's in this brand. Thoughts....

The sizing of this model looks different from other models like the SBS where I am a size 9-9.5 and would fit a 43 but in this model size chart says I would need no bigger than a 42? The 42 on the 2012 SBS model is tight.

the "Biomap" shoes runs a bit smaller than previous models, i have the torpedo plus and this Extreme shoes on 43 and i use 9 to 9.5 shoes
