Sure, thin, lightweight tights offer plenty of freedom to move, but sometimes on a truly-chilly day, you want a thicker fleece tight. That's where the Norrøna Women's Trollveggen Warm2 Stretch Tight comes in. Thicker, midweight fleece is stretch-knit for both warmth and mobility, and perspiration is still free to evaporate away. Layer this tight under shell pants for skiing, boarding, or mountaineering, or wear it alone for cool-weather climbing.

Great for cold-weather activities

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I bought these tights for cold-weather running (<30F) and am very happy with them so far. They're warm but breathable, and they wick sweat away nicely; I don't have to peel them off after a run the way I do with some of my other long running tights.

Fit-wise, they're fitted but not skin-tight, and I'm delighted to say that the size large tights are long enough for my 34" inseam legs.

I gave them four instead of five stars only because I wish they had a drawcord. They ride down when I run, and it would be helpful to have something to keep them in place.

Good all around pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I wanted to love these pants, especially for the price. They're super warm and make a great soft shell. However, the front crotch area fits a little baggy. I loved the warmth and the fit was great other than that. I ended up keeping them because I usually pair them with a longer sweater or jacket so it's not noticeable.

Comfy Comf.

These pants are worth every penny. They are super warm but not sweat to death warm. I can wear them when its super cold and can also wear them on their own for cross country skiing on warmer days. Love the small pocket, great for ID or hut money. Im 5ft 4 125 lbs and got the small. They are about 2-3 inches too long for me but its not too big a deal. If i roll them up wrong I do get a little rubbing in my ski/board boot but nothing life altering. They were snug on me but not skin tight, I feel very comfortable in them. I can move around but they arent baggy at all by any means. I dont have any hips to speak of, so they fit perfectly for me in the hip area.

    First Norrona Purchase

I'm 5'10" and generally wear a size large. These fit really well, plenty long (any longer and they'd be too long), good tightness but not too tight. I like the lower waist below the belly button. They also have knee pit venting (lighter material and also different color) which I guess is nice to have. They are thinner than I thought they would be, but perfect for winter walking/hiking/snowshoeing. They will also make a good layer under ski pants for really cold days. Overall, happy with the purchase!

      Warmth!

I got these tights a while back but didn't get a chance to test them out until last few days, where temps were in the upper 20's and no sun. I went running in the snow and these are pretty nice and warm. Any colder, I'd suggest layering with a thin merino long undies and you should be plenty toasty.

The outer fabric is smooth and the inner is soft fleece. They shed snow and mud pretty well, as after the runs they've barely got any sign of dirt on them. Definitely size up and up. I usually wear a Norrona xs in pants, and I had to size up twice!! Sure I could have gotten away with a sm, but the waist band is pretty rigid and they also felt a bit tight at the thighs, so I decided to size up to a medium. They are also quite long. I'm 5'6", and I think they should be able to fit someone who's 5'8".

One thing that's really awesome is the tight pocket. I put my iPhone in it, and it fits pretty snug and doesn't bounce at all. The other plus is the pocket is placed on the tight - and you don't usually sweat there, so no ill condensation on the iPhone after the run. You will have to play with the best way to put the iPhone in, but the pocket is a trapezoidal shape, so it's not too difficult.
