Sizing is tricky.

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:Runs small

I had to return these because they ended up being too small for my husband. With the sizes being S, M, L instead of numbered, it seems trickier to get the right size. The pants were nice and I think I'll order a larger size to see how they fit.

Good pant, functional

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

Very funtional pant, into the woods, airplanes, or urban has a good feel in about all but formal situations. I am 510 165 waist is 34 and Medium fits right now the middle great, a waist 36s could probably pull off this pant. Protects from wind well too. A good attition to the collection I have the green and light blue or space blue I think it is called. 4.5 star.

Pants for ants...

Having bought a fleece and found the size to be great for tall, athletic peeps I was disappointed to buy the mediums for my 34" waist to find more than my ankles getting cold (196cm).

The "tall norwegian" syndrome seems to have been lost on Norrona's pants but still, they are heavy duty ,hard wearing and still slim-fit pant. Given this slim fit the relatively shallow hand-pockets and flat leg pockets (unlikely other pants that give excess, or a fold of, material, the "cargo" pockets are simply a flat piece of material sewed on) you can't really use the pants for carrying more than some change, a slim phone and a thin wallet (not really a problem for me ;-)).

Regardless of the short legs or the useless pockets, the material works well to keep spikes out of you in scrub and is wind resistant enough to keep you quite warm. If they were longer I'd give them more stars.

Wear 'em with the Norrona /29 shirt!

These pants are awesome. First and foremost, they are a great hiking/scrambling pant. Very comfortable feeling material - feels almost like cotton but it is a synthetic. The cut around the knees gives extra space for big movement - but is not baggy. I think they run a little large as at 6'3 w/ 34 waist I had to return a large for a medium. Length was still good and nice trim fit. And good outdoor performance in terms of wind resistance. I love the pockets and pocket placement. The two thigh zip pockets keep things out of the way during physical activity and the two front pockets are not too deep so that items bounce around. It is also a great traveling pant. And wearing them out gets lots of positive comments.

      Best pants I've ever worn.

Holy cow, I just got these pants the other day and I love them. The cut is perfect, nice and slim, great features, great fabric. I'm a wilderness instructor for my University and wore them out on the challenge course today and was blown away at the comfort and performance. Really a great all around 4 season pant. I'm a 34 waist and about 6' and the mediums fit perfectly.

        tough as nails

just try to destroy them, after 2 years and about 100 climbs in them they hardly show signs of wear. i did have a blow out in the crotch and a pocket zipper tear off. i would still highly reccommend them. tougher than arborwear ascent pant and pfanner stretch, however not good for warm days unless you enjoy sweat running down your legs. great built in waist adjustment. gonna try the light weight pants for this summer. i'm 5'10" 180 athletic build, normally 32/32 and the fit is perfect

        Love the green!

I read the reviews and and ended up not to sizing up and hoped for the best (Mediums not in stock). I have a 32" waist but small feels a bit too small, I'd size up if you're a 32/32. It has convenient Velcro sizing strap I'll let you know if when they get a Medium in stock!

          Look Great

Backcountry did not have any mediums unfortunately. I really wanted them and had to order from Norway. The bungee cord color came in a little darker than expected (you can see my photo), however this may be a web browser problem. They are a little bulky around the ankles even with medium size boots on. All that said, these are extremely comfortable, with the Velcro waist they fit and look great. Already had several compliments and they have become my favorite pants to wear.

Fantastic, its lightweight, stretchy fabric like some prana zion, nice fit and long enough, no downside to this ones, have them in 2 colors and they are great!

Are you getting the phantom color in medium...

Are you getting the phantom color in medium anytime soon? How are these for winter/snow hiking?

Hello Conp, thanks for the question.

I checked our inventory status and we currently do not have these on order from Norrona. These are a nylon pant, so while they are designed for hiking, they may not be your best choice for winter or snowy conditions. I highly suggest checking out some softshell style pants, they would be an excellent match for your needs. Check here:
