Colorful and playful, waterproof and durable.

Go full of color at the resort with the Norrona Men's Roldal Gore-Tex Insulation Pants, or choose the sleek black—either way, the two-layer Gore-Tex membrane gives these pants guaranteed waterproof protection that keeps you dry when you ski through snow storms and slice through all that powder the next day. Despite the high-quality waterproof protection, this pair of pants remains incredibly breathable so you stay comfortable when you hike up the terrain park all day. Norrona stuffed this pant with 80g PrimaLoft Infinity insulation to keep you warm throughout winter. And, because is Norrona's exclusive retailer in the US, you won't look like every other shredder out there.

An athletic fit means you can take on tricks in the park or moguls without fighting fabric, and ventilation zippers at the inner thighs let out some steam when you work up a sweat. Gaiters prevent snow from seeping into your boots when you're hiking through knee-deep powder, and water-resistant zippers help keep you dry in ways that most pants don't. The Custom-fit waist system offers a quick and simple way to adjust the waist regardless of how many layers you have on, and the Zip-seal system connects this pant to a complementary jacket to completely cover you in stormy conditions.

warm and durable!

The Norrona clothing is well made and wonderfully designed for comfort, convenience and warmth.A little tight for me, M size is better.

Great quality very bright blue

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
  • Fit:True to size

I returned these for a larger size. I am 6ft 195 and the medium was to tight in the waist and the crotch length was also to short. I was worried about length if I size up to a large so I asked a gearhead and the inseam on a medium is 31.5 while on a large it is 32.7 inched. So not much difference.

I ordered the bright blue and they are very aquamarine blue. Its definitely not a masculine blue. I am a little wary about the color but my black jacket seems to tone it down. Also the color changes a lot depending on the light. I tried it on in the house and was impressed by the soft feel of the outer fabric. The lining runs the entire length of the pant. Which makes me nervous about tearing the hem at the bottom. The pockets on the front have a very soft fleece lining. My one concern is the zip on powder skirt. The zipper interface on the top of the pant is exposed and not very pleasant to look at or feel though this is minor. Really, im conflicted on the color. It is not the electric baby blue on this website and it is definitely not the darker shade of blue on the Norrona website.

I'm returning my pair for a large in the same blue color.

I actually returned these for the Caviar and kept them. I have only used these around town so far. Ill update this in a few weeks.
My initial impressions:
Pros: Very Very warm. You almost cant wear these in the house. Great build quality. Totally waterproof. Soft outer shell. Not baggy. Fancy 2 way waterproof zippers.
Cons: Expensive. Fully lined to the very bottom--if they tear what happens? Pockets not very useful.
Overall I like these so far. However sizing is very weird. I tried a medium and it was too small. Im 195 and 6 ft. Im kind of fat and they were 2 tight.
I sized up to the large. IMO you have to wear these very high on your hips. I wear them up around my belly button. If they are any lower the "athletic" cut of the hip area will bind up and restrict very athletic movement. If you do wear them as I think they were meant to be worn, up high like old school trousers, then they fit right and are the right length. They are a little baggy from the front but from the size they are not baggy at all and really make my but look good from behind.
my biggest con is that these were not really built for snowboarders. The gaitors are a pain. They have snaps and Velcro.
I like em. Would I buy em again...maybe.

Awesome Product

I'm 6 ' 4 in and weigh 245lbs and the XXL size fit me perfectly. These pants are warm and fit perfectly with the Norrona Gore-Tex Pro Shell jacket I got last week. Norrona def makes quality stuff, it's pricey but the quality is worth every penny.

Hi, can you please let me know your waist size and inseam? I'm also 6'4" 240, but im a 36 waist, and 36 inseam. Most 6'4' 240lbs guys are more like a 40/42 waist and a 34 inseam.

Hi, I'm a waist size 40 and inseam 34. The pants have an adjustable waist so they will work well with your body type.

High quality, warm pants

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

Ordered green in medium for 34-35 waist - great color and style but too tight. Definitely need another 1 - 1 1/2 inches. Very high quality material and workmanship inside and out. Put together very well and very well insulated. Might be a little on the short side but tough to tell since the waist was too tight - larger size may be longer.

I agree with this, they have a very active cut/fit, however the material is not dynamic. I am 5'10 165 and I tried these in the medium and way too tight. I sized up to a Large and I felt like when I was making grabs the seam was going to pop in the crotch, so I sized up again to the XL and seems to be perfect for me for hitting jumps and making big grabs. They might be a little baggy, but I love the insulation for long days in the side/backcountry as well as the extra room for hip pads and extra layers. That is my take anyways. I sized up in the Lofoten from a medium to a large. The cut is a little looser in that so the Large in the lofoten is pretty close the the XL in the Roldal pants

Hi -

Its difficult to tell in the photos on the website, but is the Caviar color more of a "grey" or more of a "blue" color? I'm looking for something that is more blue in color. Thanks.

These pants are great, no need for long underwear. I wore them in -4 in the Canadian Rockies, and they kept me dry and warm. Great pants!

Great multisport pant

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:Runs large

I've worn these skiing and hiking a fourteener. they run big; I'm 6'1"

205lbs 36" waist 32" inseam and a large fit me perfectly. I knew these were quality the minute i put them on. They were warm and comfortable both skiing and hiking all day. It wasn't very cold either day, but I'm sure they can withstand anything combined with the right base-layer.

this pant is extremely robust, at least from your hips down to the knees. Now, if you intend to use it for skiing, be wary that your edges sooner or later cut thru the gore tex garment at your ankles. Since norrona is usually running long in pants (i am 6'5", war 34X34 and XL fits perfect (sorry for that sad mntn yeti bloke commenting just below)) this leads to a bulk of garment at your ankles around skiiboots. Next is - in absence of reinforced aramid gaiters, like the lofoten pants - that your ski edged start cutting thru the trim. well, not so nice, taking in consideration that there is no way to fix this kind of 2 layer garment (i was told so in the stockholm flagship store the other day) the only thing is to like glue tape it or so... not from the inside (there is a primaloft layer) and the outside is too "furry" (dont know how this 2layer new stuff is called) that any patch would stick.

this after all, is quite poor from norrona to not fix since the last years badge, pants remained the same since 2012/13.

OK, it looks good - you got loads of pockets and a nice zip-vent, but this gaitor-issue is just not worth the money. and no, its not covered by warranty, since applying ski edges to gore tex is sort of deliberately destroying the pants...

For more info on heat regulation (and spring skiing in these) see my roldal jacket review..

And yes, there is a waist gaitor which can be zipped to your roldal jacket which makes it quite bomb proof, the black color looks more like charcoal and the red is - as explained by someone else here - more like tasty salmon.

sad mountain yeti.

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

i was born horribly deformed. get this, i'm tall: 6'5" to be exact, and [if you have children present, you may want to ask them to leave the room] i have a 34" waist. i weigh between 190 and 220lb depending on the season, but my waist size doesn't change.

according to clothing manufacturer sizing, apparently the normal human growth curve is that as you get tall you also spread out like some kind of mirrored sideways bell curve. i must have a pituitary gland issue because only my z axis worked. the x and y stopped in my teens.

in all seriousness, these are really amazing pants. they are exactly what i'm looking for. i'm sad that they aren't made in yeti sizes. the large is perfect in the waist, but too short. the xl is miles too big in the waist, and frankly could still use a little more length. for the record, i'm not going for the baggy snow-thug look, i just want a pant that won't come over my boots when i step.

i'm pretty sad that clothing manufacturers, especially outdoor equipment companies seem to cater to folks that are out of shape rather than to folks that will actually use their gear for its intended purpose.

if there are any other mountain yetis out there that can suggest a great ski / touring pant that comes in a long, i'm all ears.

i'm going to give these a 4. they should be a solid 5, but i can't recommend them for anyone that is shaped like me.

I have the same dimensions and problems you face. One of the only high quality tall pants I could find were the Helly Hansen Epic Pant. No baggy-snow-thug look with these. I did have to pay a tailor $5 dollars to add more velco in the waist so that I could tighten the pant....There are no belt loops, so this is the only way for me to keep the pant up. Excellent Quality.

Unanswered Question

is there any 4way stretch to these pants...

is there any 4way stretch to these pants or is the outer shell fairly stiff? I know some Norrna fabrics have a bit of stretch to them which I really like.

The tasty red looks a whole lot like salmon in most lights (just so you know). the caviar is gun metal grey (my favorite color). the loft on these bad boys is substantially more than Patagonia's powder bowl insulated pants. the fit is much less baggy too. I am 6 foot , 165 pounds, and a 32 waist and the medium fits perfectly in my opinion. The only minor thing I would change is to not have the waist buttons exposed (to your belly on the inside). the powder bowls win on that front only. oh and the fabric of these is semi soft to the touch (which I hope does not mean that they will wear down quickly.

the powder bowls fabric is super SUPER durable (and restricts range of motion to a certain extent.

I have to say that these seem much more warm, and fit more comfortably.

I'm looking at these pants, but have a size question - I'm 6'2" 32 waist - stuck between a M and L. I know the L will be big in the waist, but I'm worried the M will be too short. I'm interested in the trimmer fit of the M, but again, I don't want that to make the legs ride up - especially for such an expensive pant. Any thoughts on the length?

I think it will be long enough if you are using as snowboard pants (and don't wear them up to you belly button). These are definitely a bit longer than a pair of jeans (just buy both M and L and send back the one that doesn't fit as well)

Do these pants have a durable cuff...

Do these pants have a durable cuff reinforcement? (Superfabric;Aramid;Keprotec). I tend be rough on cuffs from ski edges. Thanks.

yes they do. it looks like it will work great. it's basically a piece of cordura wrapped around the bottom. looks like it will do the job well.

Toasty. Great quality. Looks great. Be sure to size up due to insulation. Not puffy. Nice and roomy. Not too baggy. Nice freeride look.

I didn't size up and they fit perfectly, I'm 6 foot, 165 lbs and a 32 waist. I think that sizing up would make you look like a clown.

    Great pants

I bought two pair of these because I had too much money and I wanted two different colors (caviar and Norrona green) to go with the roldal jackets that I bought. I'm 5'11 with a 36' waist, and the pants fit perfectly with some adjustment still available on the velcro waist band. I'm sure that this would adjust to a 32 waist. There are thigh vents that are great for warmer days. I also like the material which is not light weight like my old Spyder pants. Zip seal powder skirt connects with the roldal jacket and is fully removable from pants. Yes it was expensive, but my look and comfort is worth it.

I am 6 foot, 165 lbs and wear a 32 and the medium fits perfectly

    True Sizing

I wear a 29" waist and these pants fit great. Would probably adjust to a 32" waist with no problem. Mates well with the Lofoten jacket that I got last year.
