Description

Insulated and waterproof for chilly, wet days in our out of the resort.

Norrona has a philosophy called loaded minimalism that is dedicated to making clean (sleek, minimal) products with all the critical details, and that philosophy is shown in the Women's Roldal Gore-Tex Insulated Jacket. Lucky for you, Backcountry.com is the exclusive US retailer for Norrona products so you can hit up St. Anton in Austria, Stowe in Vermont, or Tahoe in California. The Roldal's Gore-Tex shell gives this jacket guaranteed waterproof protection that remains breathable so you stay dry in bad weather and comfortable when there's nothing but a sunny sky overhead. Norrona also stuffed this jacket with super soft PrimaLoft Infinity insulation that warms you up in cold weather while remaining incredibly light and compressible so you don't feel weighed down.

An athletic fit pulls the Roldal close to your body without restricting the movement you need to ski the slopes comfortably, and a longer cut gives you more coverage. The powder skirt blocks snow when you're floating through waist-deep fluff and is removable so you can leave it behind when you don't need it. Underarm venting lets out some steam when you work up a sweat, and its mesh lining prevents any snow from slipping in and ruining your day. The hood can slide over your helmet or cinch tightly across your head to protect you from snowy conditions. Inner hand gaiters with thumbholes keep your hands nice and cozy as well as set the sleeves in place for long-lasting comfort.

  • Gore-Tex shell, fully taped seams
  • PrimaLoft Infinity insulation
  • Athletic fit, long cut
  • Underarm venting with mesh lining
  • Removable powder skirt with silicon grip
  • Helmet-compatible, adjustable hood
  • Water-resistant zippers
  • Inner hand gaiters with thumbholes
  • Hook-and-loop cuffs
  • Backcountry.com is the exclusive US retailer for Norrona products

Here's what others have to say...

I need help with sizing! I'm 5'4", 120lbs. and dreaming about this jacket. From other reviews it seems that size S will be too big (especially in the arm length), but I'm worried that XS could be too small in the body for layering. Can anyone help??

Responded on

This jacket is an athletic fit, so it is meant to have room to layer. If you are thinking the XS measurements are closest to your own measurements, I'd go with that! Based on those measurements, you should have room to layer. Hopefully that helps! Hit me up if you need more help! LFeasler@backcountry.com

Promising

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I like what I have received but too hot to wear as yet. But great colour, slimming line, longer fit so great if you are tall. Light weight. I am looking forward to wearing it skiing to test its warmth and flexibility

Great quality jacket but ...

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

... the sleeves are way too long as others have mentioned in their reviews. I am 5'4 and 120 lbs and have average length arms, ordered a size S. Wish it would have fit better or else it would have been a keeper!!!

Responded on

I agree. Great Jacket, great quality great red color, true to description. However the sleeves are too long. I am 5'3' 115 lbs and the small is too big. Better to order a size down.

Thank you for this info!! Have either of you tried the XS? I'm 5'4" and 120lbs as well. I really want this coat, but I don't want it to be way too big. Would the XS still be roomy for layering?

Is this coat a soft shell?
Thanks!

Is this coat a soft shell?
Thanks!

Responded on

I don't think this qualifies as a soft-shell. Soft shells are generally defined as "not waterproof (but okay in a passing shower)" and they emphasize breathability over insulation, windproofness, and waterproofness.

Since this jacket is waterproof, contains Primaloft, etc.

If you're looking for soft-shell in this price range, you might want to look at Arc'teryx stuff.

Very good winter jacket! Worth the price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I am always cold especially come winter time.. So far this jacket has been the best... Very warm and you dont even need to layer.

Your boots look really warm too - what brand are they?

My favorite winter coat

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love this coat. I am always cold and needed a coat that actually keeps me warm. Its the warmest with light layers underneath.

too long arm

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I have returned as the arm was too long. I did not have a problem with other fleece of norrona. and also felt too bulky.

Responded on

That's how us tall cats feel about many other brands making sleeves too short. I kept returning jackets with short sleeves and short torso lenghts, until I ran into Norrna. There are many others on the market that you will find a perfect fit, I am sure!

Responded on

That is soooo true...nice to have options for us 'taller' gals, finally!

Unanswered Question

I ordered this jacket in a medium, and it...

I ordered this jacket in a medium, and it was too bulky in the chest area (even accounting for some layering) and uncomfortable under the arms because of too much fabric. I am 5'7" and 135lbs, 36A chest, 29" waist, 38" hips, with long arms (the sleeve length in the medium was great). Is it worth me trying the small, or would I be better off with a different brand? How does the sizing of this jacket compare to the Narvik Down 750 jacket? I am looking for a very warm ski jacket.

It's the details that matter here

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Like the other reviewer. I am tall. This jacket fits me well. Yes the arms are long enough. The fit is just part of why I love this jacket. The details great. Pockets were you need them. The pockets for your hands are lined with a nice soft fabric to help dry off and warm them up. The cut doesn't make you look like a tent yet has room for layers and is long.

Perfect fit for tall types!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm 6 ft tall with long limbs and the L fit perfectly! Beautiful red color...great fit...sleeves are long enough to keep my wrists covered as I ski.. I had to get used to the longer length..but now I love it and it is comfortable. I'm thrilled with this jacket!

Great if your arms are extra long

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I have average-length arms. THe sleeves on this jacket were at least 6-8 inches past my knuckles. Also, the jacket looks like it'd be a little longer than just past my backside. I'm 5'7", weigh 135, and am of typical proportions. I thought the jacket fit very oddly. The fabric seems to be very high quality, but it's a huge expanse for such odd proportions.

Responded on

It does tend to fit leaner and longer women better.

Got it in red, too!

  • Gender: Female

I bought this one in blue and loved it so much, that i had to have itin red as well. very practical, great for tall girls with long torsos and long arms. Very lightweight for the warmth it povides. I don't know why anybody would still want to buy Canada Goose (heavy!!) after trying this one in action. Well worth the full retail price.

Fnckin' awesome!!!

  • Gender: Female

Price is indeed steep, but this jacket is worth it in my opinion. just great. I am 5'11" and 155 lbs and got the xl, could have gotten away with a large, but wanted long sleeves and sure coverage of my big arse for cold days. Arse is covered, but not much more. On the picture it looks longer for some reason. Love the materal, the lightweightness of it and the texture (it's kind of heathered, not a flat color as shown on the pic). I went with the iceberg blue and it is slightly more turqoise than shown on my computer. I totally adore it . Norrona does not disappoint with the colors and craftsmanship. Love the main zipper, the hoodie is very roomy and will fit a helmet, and has gaiters, if adjustment is needed. Plenty of pockets with 2 internal pockets and removable snow skirt. Compresses really small considering the insulation and all of the features.Very roomy, so i will be able to move freely and layer for worst days. I can't say enough good about it. Huge improvement from last year's version!!!
