Just got the fleece a few days ago so here are my initial impressions. Very thick and warm, and the hand gaiters and hood are definitely solid. Cons, no internal pocket and the hood has no adjustment, which means it kind of flops around and the fact that the neck has no adjustment means that can get chilly too. As far as wind-resistance goes, I've felt breezes at 20 mph and up start to cut through the jacket. I'm 5'11 and about 170lbs with an athletic build and I went with a large because there were no mediums listed in stock at the time, and it's worked out pretty well. The fleece must be designed to fit slim, because it's not excessively baggy on me, nor are the sleeves too long. I was disappointed with the lack of additional photos of the jacket on this site, so I'll be sure to post some later.
Perhaps one of its biggest selling points is that I've never seen anyone in the States wearing a Norrona jacket, nor am I likely too any time soon. Love the unique look and brand of this fleece.
Oh, and it's Polartec Thermal Pro, which it doesn't say in the description.
Hey George. Questions about inventory can languish here on the question board. Your best bet will be to click on the 'Chat Now' link at the top of the page. That will get you into contact with a BC rep who will be able to answer questions.
This is my favorite fleece to date - design, fit, and function. The appearance is very stylish, people always notice it. The thumb loops and chest pockets are very functional (feel free to pop open the chest pockets to cool down a bit). The fit is perfect. I'm 6'0", 170lbs and my arms have always been longer than my sleeves. The L fits me perfectly.
Ah, and the polartec material breathes incredibly well. The only "drawback" is that a gust of cold wind will cut right through the jacket. However, I bought this sucker for layering so...

bon4124763, Thanks for your question. We will be receiving new stock in the Norrona Narvik Warm3 Hooded Fleece for the Fall season of 2011, starting around September. I hope this is helpful for you.
Wow, this fleece is great. Super warm with or without a shell, can be worn as a city jacket (down to minus degrees celcius), or worn under a shell jacket. Perfect for spring/autumn cool belays, sleeve extensions are great, and fit it nice and snug with long sleeves for those of use with greater ape-index. Simply brilliant, but that's something one can expect from Norrona.
Scotty, I would recommend using the gray "Chat Now" button in the upper-right hand corner and speaking with a gear expert. I have always gotten an immediate and helpful answer to inventory questions that way. Otherwise, inventory questions can tend to sit idle on the item page for a long time. Good Luck.
Love it, very warm and should be wearable for most of the winter in the northeast. Orginally ordered a medium, but returned for a large. I am 5'10, and normally wear a size 40 jacket but felt the medium was too tight so I went with the large. I have yet to use the hood, but it's nice and big so again, should keep me warm when needed.
Unfortunately we do not currently have any on order and are not allowed to make special orders. However, I'm sure we will get more in next season. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Did I mention its warm? I don't even have to wear a layer underneath, save for a tshirt. And it is indeed wind resistant. The chill doesn't start coming in til about a wind of 30mph. Great as a jacket or as a super warm layer. I usually wear a large or extra large but I had to go with an XXL. So go with a size larger than you usually buy.
Only had this jacket for a couple of weeks but so far I'm loving the fit, comfort, and looks of this fleece. Very warm, not very wind resistant however. I am 6'3 or so an 170 lbs and I got an XL. Fits slim and long so great for tall and slim people Size up!
I just got this for a xmas present, and it is definitely more purple than blue. I would say it is a purple that has a hint of blue: for me, it actually looks very similar to the way the color looked on-screen.
I bought this to layer under my Norrona Lofoten softshell and Narvik Hardshell to create a little extra warmth out here in the cold and damp North Atlantic . . and I don't mean New England.
Fit : at 6'2 and 170 the jacket fits me quite well. I've worn the jacket over the equivalent of a mid to heavyweight base layer with no issues. The jacket is far from baggy, but it is not mandex tight either. It fits nicely beneath both shells without making either jacket look inflated.
Quality : Seems to be great like all my other Norrona products. I cannot comment on longterm durability as I wont be able to do that until the fleece dies. BUT I can state that this jacket is like a radiator beneath my shells. It has a decent loft (maybe not the correct term, but its the first word that comes to mind) and that contribute to the warmth. This jacket will no doubt serve its purpose in acting as a toasty midlayer for when the temps get down several degrees past freezing.
My only point of contention with this practical piece is its color. On the site the red looks red, but in person is kind of looks like a females red/pink . . . the purple zippers might contribute to this . . BUT that is just cosmetics and I can't dock it points as I doubt the fleece chose to be died in such an androgynous shade of rouge.
I am 5ft 10 inches, 150 pounds and a medium fits me fine. This fleece looks awesome and is amazingly warm. I tend to be a 'run-warm' person, and I only throw this on if it is approaching frigid out. The fleece is super plush and the hood is warm. I have the pop red color, and am always getting complimented on my cool fleece. Great quality.
I'm 5'10" 190 pounds and am looking for a new fleece. Hard to gauge what size I would be in this - L or XL? Does this have any wind blocking capability? I run hot and like to be very cool while hiking etc and rarely wear more than a base layer and shell. This jacket has great reviews but appears more suited for casual wear from my take. Any suggestions?
I have had a North Face jacket and this Norrona Jacket is amazing! It is great to through on with just a t-shirt and I am more than warm. It is super toasty warm and very breathable this is my go to jacket now and I am extremely happy with it. There is only one problem I have with it. I have trouble with the zippers constantly getting stuck with the liner for some reason, it could just be me but that has been the only real problem I've had.
I just got mine and had the same problem at first with the zipper. I figured out that when zipping down it is best to press the zipper in toward you body. This has completely eliminated any zipper snag so far. Hope this helps and thanks for your review.
I live in a pretty windy city and I am wondering if the wind resistance on this jacket is pretty good? I am also wondering what size I should buy im about 5ft 11in and 180lbs I usually buy a large should I go up a size though since it is so snug?
I have to say these are the best fleece jackets I ever bought in my entire life, the excellent quality and has so many details which other jackets miss completely. I cleaned out some of my older fleece jackets while I know I'm not going back to them because there is no way I stepping down again. And for that price ? I wish I bought prior paying for all mediocre stuff. Norrøna - awesome durable stuff.
The R3 is not wind proof. The R4 is although you are limited when it comes to layering options. R4 is way to warm for even days in CO mtns. Use the R3 with a sweater or softshell over both and you should be fine. A mid weight primaloft jacket would be a great option as well to keep bulk low. Get one with a hood.
Nice length and definately a bit heavier fleece. Nice soft feel obviously. Funny how things can be cut different from Shells to Fleece or Base layers from the same mfg. That said, I sized up to a Large and got lucky on the fit. I'm 5'11" 165ish. Thumb holes on the extended wrist gaitors are a nice touch. Nice longer arms and the torso length comes down over your hips. Not baggy but tapered without being too conforming. Its just an awesome Fleece that will be a go to piece for just kickin it or whatever. I honestly have never been a big fan of fleece but this looks to make me a convert.
