Sitting warm and dry at the peak of performance is where you'll find the Norr\370na Narvik Gore-Tex / PrimaLoft Long Glove. The recipe for this glove reads like a backcountry tech-addict's wish list, combining Gore-Tex waterproofing with plush PrimaLoft insulation, then surrounding them in a Schoeller softshell, Napa hide and Lorica synthetic leather hybrid shell. A generous gauntlet seals out wind, rain, and driving snow, while the Narvik's pre-curved articulated fit and rubberized palm print provide sure grip on your ski pole, probe, or ice axe.

Bottom Line: The Norr\370na Narvik Long Glove is at the cutting edge of alpine hand protection.
going to be pulling a winter assault snow shoeing glacier work followed by some rope work and rock climbing. I am expecting the temps to be hovering around 0. I have some over mitts that have done a decent job on lesser technical activities but looking for something that will allow for handling ropes and possibly pro.
I've had these for a few years, but find myself using them less and less, and using my Hestras (Heli Pros) instead. The fit is good, but they're still not as dextrous as my Hestras for some reason. The removable inner glove in the Hestras rock for drying them, and adds flexibility. The Norronas aren't that durable, I've broken several plastic buckles on cold days, they seem to just crack at the slightest impact. Also, the palms seem to wear quicker than on my Hestras.
Bottom line: They're ok, but I'd buy Hestras instead (or maybe something else, lots of gloves out there).
I am trying to decide between this and the Hestra Heli Gloves. What is the comparable warmth, breathability, durability of the two? Will be using them for skiing in the Pacific Northwest. Also, do they run large or small? I have a large palm but medium fingers.
the Hestras have a single piece of leather on the palm, so you dont have to worry about Norronas rubber grippies to peel off and leave you hanging,(or not hanging on i guess) The sizing of these is nearly dead on, if your fingers are thicker, then you might want to do some 12oz curls with them on until they pack down. I had a pair of these, and I'd go Hestra. the full leather palm, larger gauntlet and nicer (and elastic) "idiot strap" to keep them on your person. (I am an idiot and lost the norronas because i never put the strap on my wrist)

Used these gloves for the first time on Sunday. It was a powder day with damp snow and a bitter wind. I was really impressed with how dry they stayed. I've had high end $150+ gloves before, and these are easily as good or better than those. Better than the Marmot gloves I had before, and matched my OR Super Couloir as my favorite gloves.
These gloves are all you need. Perfect fit, nice details, good grip, as warm as gloves can be. I used them this season for both very cold days on summit skiing and warmer days in the slopes.
I give them 4 stars. I really like these gloves, warm, but not bulky. The articulated fit is a great feature. There are two things I don't like: 1) the wrist strap is worthless, it has about one inch of Velcro so its not really adjustable - fortunately the gauntlet is excellent so the wrist strap is not that important. 2) The connector thing to hook the gloves together is minuscule - you need elf fingers to connect.
In short, I have tried a lot of gloves and still think these are the best for powder.
Bought last years model of these gloves, and I loved them. The articulated fit is great, it makes it easier to hold poles. I found that there was quite a bit of insulation, to the point that i really wanted them to pack out, because they were kinda tight on my skinny fingers. The palms had grippy logos on them, that immediately peeled off the leather, oh well but at least theres leather under the rubber. I liked the velcro on the palm side of the glove...it gives the back a clean look, didn't care much for the gauntlets though. Even though I would have passed on the gauntlets, I wish i hadn't lost them a month after I got them. But for most applications, pulling a long jacket sleeve over the gloves works better for me anyway.
I'm trying to decide between these guys and the Marmot Aplinists. I'll use them primarily for skiing but potentially a little mountaineering as well...and the odd snowball fight. Thanks!
Gloves and cold fingers are often ubiquitous in snowboarding. I ponied up the monstrous dough for these gloves and took them to Wyoming for many days. The coldest day was -20 F. Now, I won't say my hands were WARM but they weren't COLD either. Primaloft is pretty amazing, and the shell material keeps your hands dry. What really is great about the gloves is the pre-curved fingers and the superb fit. They also have the very best grip I've ever seen from a pair of heavy-weight gloves. So grippy, infact, that i grabbed the lift when it was really cold and well, the gripper part of the glove froze to the lift! Can't really tell if that's a pro or a con?!!
These gloves are hands-down fantastic. They are well made, and warm. They have a leather palm and rubberized palm print for gripping. The only downside is they are designed for a slight bend in the knuckle, so it's hard to truly straighten out your hands. Also, because the gloves are somewhat thick at the tops of the fingers, dexterity is a bit hard. However, I think the former problem may relax after continued wearing. BTW, have worn them in 16 degree weather, and remained warm. A+
Do these gloves have idiot proof wrist straps...I love those things when I need to pull off my gloves to work with things that actually need finger dexterity. I know exactly where my gloves are and can quickly pull them back on.
I've had these for a few years, but find myself using them less and less, and using my Hestras (Heli Pros) instead. The fit is good, but they're more...
