Norrona's softest jacket for freestyling the resort.

Stand out amongst the hordes of park boarders in the colorful Norrona Men's Narvik Gore-Tex 2L Performance Shell Jacket. Its fully taped, two-layer Gore-Tex membrane gives this jacket guaranteed waterproof protection that keeps you dry when you eat crud, and it remains highly breathable so you stay comfortable when you hike up the park all day. Norrona made the shell out of recycled nylon to minimize Norrona's footprint on the environment. And, because backcountry.com is Norrona's exclusive retailer in the US, you won't find a bunch of jacket-twins on the jumps or in the trees.

A baggy fit leaves plenty of room in the Narvik for you to layer up on frigid days without restricting the movement you need to hit the halfpipe. This jacket features X-open ventilation underarm zippers that release steam when you work up a sweat, and mesh linings prevent any snow from seeping in while you have the zippers open. The powder skirt snaps to complementary pants so you can shred the pow and stay completely dry. Its hood slides over your helmet or cinches across your head with a simple one-handed adjustment, and its wire brim keeps the hood out of sight while you ski. Water-resistant zippers protect you in ways that most jackets don't, and the adjustable cuffs have wrist gaiters with thumbholes for extra comfort.

    Great Jacket

Really love this jacket. I used it all season as my go to ski/snowboard jacket at Mammoth. I ordered the medium, I'm 5'10, 180lbs and it fits me to a T. Not super baggy (I prefer it slightly more fitted). Really couldn't think of anything to improve on this piece. It's warm, it has a soft, warm lining to it, but the ventilation works great. Great pockets. It seems rugged/durable. And I love the powder skirt.

      Insulated?

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

I know what your thinking, those of you who own this jacket, but with the multiple layers of material and the soft flee backing in most of the inside layer, this jacket acts as an insulated jacket. The air gets trapped in between the two layers and really holds a lot of heat. Being that it is a GorTex 2L shell it sheds moisture and maintains the warmth. I have this in the bluegrass and love the colors and the pockets are pretty much the standard pockets they have available in all of their shells with the two outside breast pockets (the left chest with a goggle cloth), two hand pockets and a radio/pass pocket on the left shoulder. When Skiing on the Epic pass my card has a hard time being read by the RIF readers at VAIL resorts, so if epic mix is your Jam, this jacket may not allow the card to read all the time. The inside boasts two more accessory/media pockets, but unfortunately none of them are media cable ready. Another standard feature is the spray skirt and the hood and waist adjustments. This jacket will work with any of the Lofoten, Lyngen and Roldal series. No on to some things I don't like... The flaps over the zippers get in the way of zipping the jacket and pockets up. The flaps are suppose to hide the zippers but cause more nuisance than they are worth. The zippers on this jacket constantly catch material and jamb. The hood of the jacket when zipped all the way up with a helmet DOES NOT provide room for your face, so you are left to push it all the way down below your chin, or forget about it all together. Other than that the material is superb and the jacket is crafted well. Just a few design flaws that don't work great for me. I am 5'10 165 and this jacket fits me well in the size Large. I like to layer underneath so I like a little more room for extra layers and swinging my arms when jumping off things. This jacket has a freestyle feel to it so it is a little baggier than the lofoten jackets and or the Roldal. keep that in mind when sizing.

Why so long??? --- Almost there for me

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL

The jacket and pants are quality material and feel durable. The jacket chest fits great at XL. However, it was too long for me. (Think..past your groin like you were wearing someone else hand-me-downs that were too long. The sizing was accurate though through your chest and arms and you should order your regular size. Plenty of room for layering in a non-restrictive way.

The pants fit perfect in XL and work perfectly for boarders or skiers with the extra button at the bottom. Very cool feature. I returned both because I wanted a matching outfit. I was sad to return the pants because they fit so well with or without base layers/fleece pants. I wear 38 Jeans

All in all - Norrona Narvik was an excellent piece of kit. There was nothing wrong with the jacket or pants. The jacket just didn't fit me that well because I am 5' 9"

The look of the Blue on Blue was kind of basic; in terms of fashion and appeared to be slightly boring and on the ugly side of things. I guess the patterns were too closely related (jacket & pants).

If you are on the taller side ---- This combo is 5 STARS and is worth consideration.

      Best product I ever bought

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large Jacket

I follow winter and ski almost 200 days per year so pretty much have live in my ski gear.. I have used lots of different brands and after a lot of thinking I thought I would treat myself to a new Jacket and Pants. Norrona Narvik Jacket and Pants are awesome, The materials and quality are something I keep admiring and showing off to everyone on the chairlift.

I got them later in my southern hemisphere season and I have never been so dry during rain storms and slushy conditions.
The jacket is a nice length and fit, its comfortable easy to move in even when layered.. Everything on the jacket works perfectly and with heaps of style. Narvik really is the best product I have ever bought for skiing, I cant wait to get it deep under Japans powder in a couple of months.

      Excellent jacket

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Medium

I had a FourSquare jacket that I used for 4 seasons. I bought it because it was on sale, and matched the rest of my gear (let's be honest--we all like to accessorize). However, it was heavy, the wrist gaiters and powder skirt weren't long enough, and I was getting tired of snow getting in.

I figured, if I were buy a replacement, I wanted something of excellent quality. And knowing this brand is in the same league as Arc'teryx, I know I couldn't go wrong. Unfortunately, as a cheap bastard hoping to spend no more than $100-$150, it's also as expensive, so it was a pipe dream... until it dropped 40% off. While it's still over my budget, it was well worth the money, especially since it'a a Gore-Tex jacket from a reputable brand. Also, I know it's subjective, but the blue one, being the only one on sale (at the time I'm writing this), it's the best-looking one..

Unlike my old jacket, this one is almost half the weight, and the material feels soft and comfortable. The wrist gaiters and powder skirt length is perfect. There are just the right amount of pockets, and everything is accessible. The jacket overall however, looks huge on me, but I can't fault the jacket since it does say 'baggy' in the description. If you're my height and weight and prefer something more fitted, a small would be better.

Other than size, I am 100% satisfied with this jacket.

Great Brand pretty much unheard of

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

This jacket has is itall. Gore-tex is great wind proof, water proof, etc. Also has more then enough pockets. Skied with the jacket first day and was around 15degrees and did awesome. Later in week it warmed up to 45 degrees and side vents opened did the job cooling me down. I would suggest anyone looking for a good ski jacket to buy this product.

      Very impressed

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

I received my jacket yesterday and I have to say, I am quite impressed. The quality is top notch and it looks sweet! I received a few compliments up at Snowbird today and it was nice to be wearing something that not everyone has. In Utah that is hard to do. I'm 6'1" 170lbs and I ordered the medium as I am not one of the park bros at Brighton hittin boxes and bowls and I don't like my gear to fit super baggy. It fits well and with enough room to layer when it gets really cold. The jacket itself is actually warmer than I thought it would be. Must be the liner that makes the difference. I put my sleeve under my kitchen faucet and the water just ran right off so I'm pretty sure that I'll stay dry even when it storms bad. I'll write some more after I've got 20-30 days in to see how durable it is.

I posted under Ian4791397 before I had my own backcountry account. So I'm near the end of my second season in this jacket but alas, I'm on my second jacket. Halfway through this season the zipper broke but Backcountry was awesome and I took it in to the warehouse in SLC and they swapped it out for a new one. Aside from the zipper issue I absolutely love this jacket. It stays dry when it's storming, keeps me warming when it's below 0 and the vents keep me cool in the spring. Would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a quality piece of gear

Top quality but really, really long

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I received my jacket today but I'm sending it back. The cut is really long. I'm 5'8" and 165 lbs and the hem goes probably about 4" above my knee and a few past my inseam. I normally wear a medium because I like my jackets loose so I can layer under them. Cut is just right around my chest so I don't think I could get a small as it would be too tight. Material is top notch and the liner is perfect to add some warmth to just a plain shell so you won't have to layer as much. The interior pocket has room for a iphone/etc but some of the larger phones might not fit well. There is no cable management or hole to thread your head phone jack through so you can't zip the interior pocket all the way up if you plug in some headphones. Bummer, but not a deal breaker for me. The powder skirt doesn't zip out and if left undone it cinches around the waist to make it feel fitted which was kind of weird as it pulled the jacket in close to the body. I didn't have the same effect when it was stretch around the waist and snapped in place. So, to me, it wouldn't work well as a jacket off the slopes. You have to be on the tall thinner side for the cut to work for you. Finally, I got the tasty read and it is much brighter than the pics on backcountry.com. More like a bright chilipepper red IMHO. Great jacket just not the right cut for me. Definitely a high quality jacket for the price if you can get on sale like I did. Full price...not so sure.

      Norr?na Narvik Gore-Tex 2L Jacket

I am going to throw out there he is a medium to large but definitely not outside those parameters. Note, this jacket is designed to be much longer than your average jacket and is also suppose to be baggier, so it is not that he is just wearing a large jacket for his size. The Narvik concept by Norrona is designed for freestyle skiing and snowboarding.

      Bluegrass color

Heres a pic of the bluegrass coat, I think it shows the color a bit better. The blue is more teal once you see it in person.

      Bluegrass color

I'm 6'1" and bought the large. It definitely has a longer fit to it and goes down my backside almost past my butt. That being said im on the taller side so im not sure it bothered me as much as it might bother others. If you were shorter but still had the large body structure then I could see how it might be bothersome. But, if you are super tall and are looking for a coat to cover your midriff, then this is a great choice.
