You won’t actually be able to give cold weather the middle finger in the Norrona Narvik Gore-Tex Long Mitten, but sliding your frosty digits into this waterproof, insulated hand-roaster makes a similar statement. Norrona started with a stretchy Schoeller shell for total flexibility, backed it with a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex membrane, and stuffed it with crazy-warm PrimaLoft insulation. This trifecta of mitten perfection ensures dry, warm hands whether you cut turns at the resort or slog up a snowy summit ridge. A brushed microfiber lining adds comfort, and the rubberized palm gives you a solid grip on your ski poles or ice axe.

The description says they don't have a goggle wipe, but in the picture there seems to be one one the back of the hand, index finger area. Is there one or is that just a piece of cloth?

Seriously amazing mittens. They are light, incredibly warm and waterproof. And when it warms up a bit they wick away moisture so you are comfy no matter what. Would highly recommend!

Norrøna Narvik Gore-Tex Long Mitten

By:
December 16, 2009

After I got frustrated one morning with not even being able to feel my hands and losing all dexterity, I decided I needed something better. After a couple days of storm skiing at Snowbird, these have proven to be the best. I haven't been cold, or even wet, once. They are not as bulky as a lot of super warm gloves, as the GTX/primaloft combo packs a ridiculous 1-2 punch, and still allow you a great amount of movement. They fit pretty true to size, normally I am a medium type hand but I went with the large and they fit the BC.com liner gloves underneath like they were meant to be paired together. I can't say enough good things about these! I can feel my hands again!

I got my mitts

By:
January 11, 2010

Possibly the best mittens on the planet but since I'll never wear another pair I'll never know. These mitts are super warm and have amazing wicking ability. When I'm skiing through the trees or traversing my hands sweat, not a problem with the mitts, it's just me. By the time I get to the top of the lift ride the insides of the mitts are dry and my hands are warm and ready for another run. 30 seconds under the hand dryer and they are totally dry inside and out. The safety straps are great and I never worry about dropping them off the lift. The cuffs fit neatly over my jacket and the drawstring keeps the snow out. Also, these gloves have about a mile of soft fabric to wipe your nose on which I try to do as little as possible because it's gross. Unbelievably lightweight, super cool styling, warm and dry. Norrona definitely got it right.

No, they are not super warm. I have used them down to - 31* and already at 5* they felt cold when i did not wear an additional pair of liner gloves. They are ok as long as I am on the on the move and use my hands but they are no good alone when I stop for a break. The tightening around the wrists are too wide allowing warm air to escape and it sems to me as the primaloft filling stops just above the wrist leaving a cold spot between the mitt and the jacket.
Bottom line: buy a pair of liner gloves too.
(ps: runs a bit small - just a bit)
I recommend the Norrøna Gore tex shell mitt and their wool liner - Great together and with a shell mitt you can use the principle of layering on your hands as well. This solution also speeds up drying as drying the Narvik mitt is almost hopeless inside a tent in the wintertime.

Excellent

These mittens are very warm, without the bulky size of comparable mittens. The zip-off wrist portion is ideal for my needs and the mittens overall - are the most attractive heavy mitten, I have come across. These mittens are awesome!

These mittens were definitely warm and fitted my hands well. However, it was a pain trying to get them over the top of my jacket, and the loop broke off after one day. Not recommended.

I wore a base layer, down jacket, and a shell and had no problem getting the cuff over my jacket. I did have to tighten the velcro strap on my jacket cuffs so they were snug to my wrist but I would have done that anyway. If your loop broke off then it may be a material defect and a warranty issue...or operator error.

Same here - used these on my last ski trip into the interior, BC, and these have held up great. I actually thought the cuff fit well over my jacket (it is a shell though), and the cinch drawstring seals off the snow and is easy to grab even with a mitten on. 5 stars in my mind.

Hmm I have been using them hard for weeks, no design flaws or durability issues at all yet. You probably pulled to hard or something. They will work best under a jacket cuff with a sleeve gaiter.
