Waterproof protection and soft comfort can coexist.

You want waterproof protection you can count on, but you don't want the rough, tarp-like side-effects. The Norrona Men's Narvik Gore-Tex 2L Pants use a two-layer Gore-Tex membrane that gives this pant guaranteed waterproof protection, and the nylon shell remains surprisingly soft so you don't feel like you're wearing a crinkly hardshell. They nylon used for the shell is also recycled to minimize Norrona's footprint on the wonderful environment that we all love to play in. And because Norrona's products are sold in the US exclusively by, you won't come across a ton of lookalikes.

The Narvik has a baggy fit to accommodate multiple layers for frigid days, and it leaves plenty of room for the freedom of movement you need to hit the park's halfpipe. There are zippers at the inner thighs in order to ventilate any excess heat when you work up a sweat, and the mesh lining prevents any snow from seeping in when the zippers are open. Gaiters keep snow out of your boots, and water-resistant zippers protect you in ways that most pants don't. Norrona's proprietary Custom-fit waist system offers a simple way to cinch the waist on the fly, and the Snap seal system connects to complementary jackets in order to completely block out the bad weather. Norrona reinforced the lower legs with Cordura so you can ski in this pair of pants for multiple seasons.

What do you think about this product?

    Have questions about this product?

Very well design, constructed, but snug.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL

I was getting these to replace my Burton AK 2L pants. These are better designed and constructed. Really nice features and the integrated belt they have is awesome. I wanted to keep them for that feature alone...

...however, they are just a little too snug for sports movement. They would bind up a little when you would squat down (bend knees) or hike with them. When you are loaded down with a bunch of gear you don't want the pants giving you any resistance. The Burton pants just move with you a little better.

It could have been the full felt lining inside which kind of sticks to my base layer instead of sliding smoothly. Again, really liked the pants but just didn't think they'd be comfortable for the long haul.

Loved all the pockets and the large ventilation, although I wish they had hip and crotch vents to open up. The mesh lining on the vent opening, though, was a nice touch. The lower gators around your boot fit nice and snug removing the need for the lace hook that some pants have. They also were snug enough at the ankles so that you wouldn't be stepping on your cuffs as you walked.

Job done, but not blown away

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium

I bought these at about 50% off two years ago. It was a splurge because I did not need new pants in my quiver. I have worn them maybe 20+ times in the resort, never toured in them. I have the purple ones in the video.
    My impressions and observations:
-Soft: they do not have traditional waterproof Gore feel.
-Baggy: Like all descriptions say, they have a freestyle feel, but you don't swim in them.
-Plenty of pockets in mostly the right places. Wouldn't want to tour with stuff in the knee pockets.
-Thigh vents could be more ample, but dump some heat.
    - They run big from my experience, but also have good waist adjustments to fit variety of sizes.
-Nice colors. They end up looking pretty good with all gear on.
-Zippers are pretty discrete, but get the job done and are sealed well.
-Inside of pants is soft fleece lining and can get pretty warm on spring days
-Durability doesn't seem to be an issue so far.

Conclusion: Solid Resort Pant that will keep you dry and let you fly, but it won't leave you jumping for joy, at least it didn't for me (maybe that's because I didn't need them).

    Great Pants; Perfect Sizing

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

Perfect pants in terms of functionality. Awesome buttons on bottom for skiers or boarders to make looser or tighter - very important for skiers to not rip pants in bindings.

Fit was perfect, but colors were kind of ugly (blue with blue jacket) Kind of reminded me of a one-piece ski outfit I had when I was 10 years old. LOL

Other than the colors, these pants are top notch and give you the room to layer in a non-restrictive way.

    Super solid ski pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: xl

They fit well, are comfortable to wear, and keep me warm/dry on the mountain. Covers my basic requirements for a ski pant.

Have the perfect slightly baggy but wearable/functional fit I was looking for. XL length was perfect for me at 6'3". I wear a 34 waist and the XL was big but easily adjustable and still comfortable after i tightened up the velcro/elastic wast adjusters. Will fit a range of waist sizes

The interior has a thin fleecy lining which is nice, makes it comfortable to wear them without a base layer and it won't catch on your wool if you do wear a base layer.

The 2 front pockets are fleece lined. Back one isn't. All are well positioned and sized.

Could use an outer zip vent to pair with the inner thigh vent although I would probably wear a different pant on warmer days anyways so this shouldn't matter.

    Great pant

    Very disappointed in Norrona &

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These split right up the middle seam on about day 20 of use, I bought them last February. They are supposedly the same size as jeans I buy, and I have never split a pair of jeans, so I'm going to blame poor quality seams. It looked like there was only one thread in that seam. When I contacted backcountry for help with this issue the sales agent asked me repeatedly if they were under warranty, which I have no freaking clue, because I had never heard of this company prior to buying these pants from on the strength of the web-sites reputation. The agent was completely clueless and unhelpful. Very disappointed in the money I put in to these.

Update: Dan from contacted me and I am getting the pants exchanged for a new pair. They did work well as far as warmth and waterproofing, so I am going to give them a second try once I get a new pair. Good thing winter returned to the west, now I can check them out this season. Updated to 2 stars, will re-evaluate once I wear them a little more.

    Great pants

Only worn these a few days but really like them. They have a really comfy inner liner and I didn't even need a baselayer under them with temps in the low 20's, so they may be a little warm in a couple weeks. Great features and really like the snap seal system. Works way better than any zip in system and is better than patagonia's because it snaps all the way around. I'm 6'1, 170 and the medium fits great. If you're any taller go with the large for the length.

    Norrona Quality

Great pants, great fit, as usual from Norrona. A couple things to note, these do have a baggy fit, but not too baggy. I'm about 5'10" 150, and the medium fits perfect. For comparison, the Patagonia Powder Bowl pants fit much baggier. Also, the blue picture is a bit misleading. There are actually 3 different shades of blue on these pants, which actually looks quite a bit better in my opinion. See attached photo.

Only gripe is I wish they had a full side vent, can get a little warm.

      Unanswered Question

The Norrona website says that this pant...

The Norrona website says that this pant has the zip-seal system as well (connecting the pant to a compatible jacket). Backcountry just says snap seal. Just wondering which one is correct.
