Every now and then I find an awesome, worth-every-penny fleece and this is the one. I'm 6'6'' / 185lbs and I'm tough to fit but Norrona is all that for the taller side of things...I got the large and its pefect.
Its thick, cut perfectly, the hood is just right and wrist-gaiters / thumbholes absolutely perfect. My only complaints, minor are the thumbhole fabric began to come apart at the seams, right @ thumb "crotch" on both gaiters at exactly the same time and without intensive use yet (only 2 weeks of snowboarding) but rather than ship back overseas for a month and repair, I just sewed them back up myself...no other larges left in stock (why I can't figure out).
The only other gripe, again totally minor is that i HATE zip-up-to-close zippers as 1) it means you have to hold the bottom of the fleece w/ you hand to close it; 2) on this fleece those zip up right at your chest and the zippers look & feel like nipple rings, totally annoying. Last, if the main front zippers were positioned to point slightly inward vs. outward ,it would look way cooler (and be just as functional so thats slightly dopey, but the rest of the cut is sweet. I get complients on this thing constantly.
Last - its warm as hell. Really toasty coat, and I wear either a Norrona or Stoic jacket over top.

In general, if you are long-limbed and fairly thin, Norrona will fit you exceptionally. Won this fleece on their annual xmas giveaway via fbook (get in on it) and received a croc green large. I am 6'3" and fairly skinny, and this a great fit, almost too warm tho...Arms are long enough (thank god, wont be buying my other fave Arcyeryx for a bit) and I can't believe they gave away this fleece-It's just about perfect. My only bitch is that I don't wear hoodies, and this comes across like one, but the fit, quality and warmth kill that vibe. Buy it, wear it. Love it and perhaps I could actually see someone else in the Northeast of the USA actually wearing one of these superior products...

I'm tall 5'8", weight 155 lbs and the size of the fleece is "M". Very warm fleece, ideal for winter walks. Great attention to details and the quality of the material is very nice. This is very soft and cozy fleece, the best I ever had. Highly recommended!

I love fleece jackets. I have way more than I need, but I find that they're very versatile pieces that are useful for layering on cold days or great as an outer layer in warmer temps. This fleece will have a permanent place in my closet for a couple of reasons. Gaiters/thumb loops at the cuffs are a nice addition and make it easier to add an outer layer without fiddling with the sleeves. Three pockets are just the right amount. I especially like the upper left sleeve pocket for car keys or credit cards. Best part about this jacket is the fit. So few pieces in the more common brands actually fit tall and lean folks, but this fits me like a glove. 6'3", 165 lbs. Medium is perfect.

I love the athletic fit, somewhat longer than belt length style as I am 6'2" and skinny/athletic build 165lb. I got the medium and while the sleeves are plenty long when you factor in teh gaitor/thumb hole things, the actual fleece itself is kinda short and looks a bit odd. also, the cuff style allows you to keep the cuffs near your wrist when putting a jacket on over it, but the fleece cuff still disappears several inches inside your jacket. i'm still deciding if I want to keep it- other than the cuffs it's high quality and i love it- i do wish it also had a cinch cord on the waist but it's trim enough that you don't get any big gusts of wind up there.
Fits Like a Glove! Absolutely Perfect!

I bought the Green, Blue and Caviar thinking I would choose my favorite color and send the other two back. Well, lets just say I barely talked myself into sending one back. I am 6'5" 230 and don't have barely any fat on me. Needless to say, it's hard to find apparel these days that is tailored for a large chest and small waist. I bought an XL and it fits like a glove, truly the best fitting jacket I have ever owned. I'm a huge ArcTeryx fan, but Norrona products have the build quality of ArcTeryx with better tailoring for an athletic fit. I recommend this jacket 150% to anyone looking for a awesome fleece.
For taller guys.

I'm around 5'8" and probably between 130 and 140 lbs and ordered a small. This fleece fit perfectly except for the sleeves, which were 2 inches too long. Being a Norwegian company I should have figured. I had the same issue with a Fjallraven top I tried.
This has the best looks of any fleece hoodie I have tried, so if you are a couple of inches taller than me it should fit correctly. Check out Norrona's site for the size chart. You can also order the items that backcountry doesn't carry from their site. The finnskogen warm4 jacket looks great.

Is this sale price of 148.72 going be new price from here on out or is part of the current promotion that's going on? I've been eyeing this fleece a while but to wait for the perfect price. This is that price so will it stay that way until the first week of December?

This sale price will most likely be offered only for a limited time. As always, if an item drops in price even more within 30 days of purchase, just give Backcountry.com's customer service a call (800-409-4502) and they will honor the lower sale price and refund the difference.

First of all, if this jacket has a fault it could only be that it is too warm! This jacket is freakin' hot. I run a slightly higher core temp than many so I get hot easier, but I can only stand to wear this jacket as a stand alone with a base layer in the teens and below (keep in mind this is just me, everyone is different and has their own temp preferences, I also live in the coldest county in the US). For me wearing this in the 20's isn't going to happen unless there are some freak pressure shifts and there are bone chilling gusts. What I love about this jacket as opposed to its predecessor is the pockets are higher and an extra pocket on the sleeve which my older jacket does not have. This allows you to easily access pockets with a harness on or a waist belt on. The 300 weight is heavy but the jacket does not feel as heavy as other brands at this weight (Arcteryx). The tightly woven material has some incredible wind blocking abilities which also helps retain heat (and is also why I get so hot in this jacket). The thumb cuffs are awesome on this jacket like most Norrona products, and I am just going to say this and will also elaborate a bit more in another post below or above, but Norrona is the best quality, smartest design on the market and there is not one brand that can touch them. You would understand if you have tried their products before, TOP NOTCH!

Does the hood fit well under a ski helmet?

This is a rather low profile hood, so you may be able to fit it under your helmet, but the profile around the chin may make it uncomfortable to strap your helmet with the hood up.

gta100423908,
SnakeDoctor has a Large. He mentions the size in his review below.
Cool unique jacket

Just got the fleece a few days ago so here are my initial impressions. Very thick and warm, and the hand gaiters and hood are definitely solid. Cons, no internal pocket and the hood has no adjustment, which means it kind of flops around and the fact that the neck has no adjustment means that can get chilly too. As far as wind-resistance goes, I've felt breezes at 20 mph and up start to cut through the jacket. I'm 5'11 and about 170lbs with an athletic build and I went with a large because there were no mediums listed in stock at the time, and it's worked out pretty well. The fleece must be designed to fit slim, because it's not excessively baggy on me, nor are the sleeves too long. I was disappointed with the lack of additional photos of the jacket on this site, so I'll be sure to post some later.
Perhaps one of its biggest selling points is that I've never seen anyone in the States wearing a Norrona jacket, nor am I likely too any time soon. Love the unique look and brand of this fleece.
Oh, and it's Polartec Thermal Pro, which it doesn't say in the description.
Very Nice

Love it, very warm and should be wearable for most of the winter in the northeast. Orginally ordered a medium, but returned for a large. I am 5'10, and normally wear a size 40 jacket but felt the medium was too tight so I went with the large. I have yet to use the hood, but it's nice and big so again, should keep me warm when needed.
So far so good

Only had this jacket for a couple of weeks but so far I'm loving the fit, comfort, and looks of this fleece. Very warm, not very wind resistant however.
I am 6'3 or so an 170 lbs and I got an XL.
Fits slim and long so great for tall and slim people
Size up!
