Warm for how thin it is

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

This jacket hits the midlayer sweet spot: fitted enough that I can comfortably wear it underneath a hard shell or heavier outer layer, but not so fitted that it's too tight over a baselayer. It's also surprisingly warm on its own despite not being terribly thick. And with the soft fleece interior, it's very comfortable next to skin.

As far as fit goes, I tend to struggle to find tops that have long enough sleeves and aren't too restrictive for my broad shoulders, but this jacket wins on both counts. The sleeves are long enough that I can actually use the thumb gaiters without feeling like I'm pulling too much on the sleeves, and the shoulders feel mobile enough for climbing. The torso isn't quite as long on me as I would like for wearing under a harness, but at least with the shoulder mobility I won't be tugging the hem upward every time I reach overhead. As another reviewer noted, the hood provides good coverage, and I like how high the front collar is. It easily covers my chin and mouth, unlike most jackets where I have to tuck my chin into the collar to protect it from wind.

I'm 5'11" / 175 lbs, and a large fits me with room for a baselayer underneath.

Wanted to love it, just kinda liked it

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I was looking for a warm fleece with some wind/water resistance, and ordered this in a small (I'm 5'10", 140#, runner build, 34-26.5-37.5). It fit well - the sleeves were plenty long and allowed good movement, shoulders were appropriate, the hood fits nicely (although when the hood is down the front zip sat a little higher under my chin than I'd like), and the length was fine - except that the waist wasn't very fitted on me. Since I'm small in the bust, I need a good fit in the waist or else I look kind of shapeless. A Backcountry chat rep did tell me that the "athletic" fit is supposed to be a bit more form-fitting than the semi-fitted, so I was a little surprised this was so loose on me. I didn't plan to put too many layers under this, but two layers probably would've been fine.

The color does have a teal tone as a reviewer mentioned, and it's attractive but personally I would've preferred a true indigo.

The construction is nice and quality seems very good, and it has a nice feel to it (it's pretty light so I'm not sure how warm it would be - good for fall but would need layering for winter). For the cost I couldn't justify keeping something I didn't love. Still, it's good to know that the length (including sleeves! Always a worry) of Norrona small works for my build. I do usually wear smalls in most brands (somehow), so I'd say this is true to size/maybe slightly large.

I'm sad this didn't work out, but still may try a Norrona product in the future.

Norrona Lyngen Warm2flex Fleece Jacket

I'm confused. This looks like the same model as the one in the Trollvegen (sp?) Warm2 video, where it says she's 170-something cm tall, 60kg, and wearing a medium, instead of 189cm, 85kg, and wearing a large. I'm most concerned with trying to gauge size and sleeve length (I'm 5'10" and 138# but think that I would probably wear a small), so was trying to use the videos for that. Any help would be great!

Warm and great hood!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I'm 5'10' 155lbs, I ordered the large and it fits great. Loose enough for two layers underneath(not a bulky thick cable knit sweater) and still move easily. The length of the arms is great and the thumb hole cuffs are a nice benefit. The hood is very snuggly and a pretty good wind stopper (my ears are very sensitive). I have retired my old North Face fleece in favor of this. Held up great after one wash. Would buy again.

Yet another perfect fitting piece from Norrna. Long sleeve length, nicely fitted in torso with enough room to layer. Super soft and lightweight, minimal in visual design, but not in features. It is fleece lined, stretchy and super comfortable. Can't say anything bad about it. When all zipped up with hoodie on, it is like having the warmest, most protective balaclava. I love it! I love it! I love it! May be a bit expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

I got it in Polar Night and it has a beautiful dark teal tone to it. I am 5'11" 155# and feel comfortable in a Large with plenty of room for layering.
