Love this jacket!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

This jacket is perfect for keeping you warm even in the bitter cold. I wore this through the winter with temps averaging -25C, but getting as cold as -40. My torso was always sufficiently warm regardless of what I had on under it. With a fleece I was happy and cozy for longer walks. The quality is generally quite good, although the zipper has randomly popped open now and again. I would recommend this coat for anyone who wants to stay warm in the serious cold without feeling like a stuffed sausage! Especially at its sale price.

Amazing Jacket

Love the jacket! it's a bit transparent so you can see a few of the feathers but i don't mind at all. very warm, light, and packable.

Amazing Jacket

Love at first sight!

I bought for my girlfriend's birthday. First of all, despite being super warm it is also soft and comfy. She loves the bright green as it is her favorite color. The hood stays on well without being constricted (or in her words "without feeling like a sardine").

My jacket arrived today. Perfect timing. 15 degrees but with the wind chill, feels like <2. I wore a very light fleece top underneath my jacket. I walked my dog for about half hour and I was super warm without being too hot. Plus it was super flexible and lightweight. I did not feel like oompa loompa :-) In terms of style, I love it so much better than Patagonia and Northface.

I am 5.5, 116 lbs and the small was perfect.

This is truly the most PERFECT lightweight jacket. Perfect for these off-season afternoons and nights in Jackson Hole. It folds up and packs really well too. Once the sun goes behind the mountains here it get cold and this was the perfect jacket to bring with me!

Best warm, light down jacket

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:Runs large

I was looking for a warm but still light weight down jacket. I ordered several jackets to compare and this one was perfect! It is both warm, lightweight, looks great, and is very comfortable. For the warmth is was the lightest of all out of all of the jackets I ordered. I'm 5'2", 115lbs (broad shoulders/chest) and the XS fit well even though I am normally a S. The Montbell Alpine Light Down Parka was the runner up but it wasn't quite as cute and is slightly heavier. All of the other jackets I ordered were either heavier or not as warm. This jacket is not only the best of all of the options but also exactly what I was looking for. Finally my search is over!

Big Fan

I wear the jacket under my Arc'teryx shell for skiing and on its own casually in the city. The jacket is great - lightweight and not bulky, but super warm. The hood isn't deep enough to go over my helmet, but otherwise very happy with it.

The colour Festival Fuchsia is nice and bright, and I get lots of compliments on it. I recommend!

Size up

Coat is warm and exactly what I wanted for both a layer for cold ski days and an over layer when skinning.

Great fit overall but way too tight in the chest. I think they forgot it is a woman's fit. Had to size up to a med even though shoulders and arms were too large.

Fantastic down jacket!

  • Fit:True to size

I bought this jacket to survive the -40 weather in Fort Mcmurray, Alberta... And it is fantastic! Layering with fleece and its perfect for the cold weather. On top of that, it looks great and I get lots of compliments. I am 5'5 and 125lbs and a small fits great. I definitely recommend this jacket!

Great jacket!

I absolutely love this jacket and wear it almost every day in interior Alaska. It's lightweight yet surprisingly warm and very versatile. Perfect for dry climates and versatile based on base layering....

Great jacket!

Nice fit but material flaw.

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'd like to first point out that this jacket fits like a charm. I'm 5'6 and 115 lbs and the XS was perfect, and even had a little extra length in the front and the back. Unfortunately, after one or two uses just running around town, I noticed a lot of feathers (and I mean the entire seat of my car was lined with loose feathers) leaking out from not just the seams but all throughout the nylon. I understand that in any jacket with down as high of fill as this to expect to see feathers poking out here and there, but for a technical jacket at the $300 price point, I found myself less than impressed with the quality of the material.

I wish this could have worked, as again the design is really flattering. Perhaps it was a flaw specific to the one jacket I wore, but my experience is worth mentioning.

Norrona has a seriously excellent warranty. I've had to warranty a 2 year old fleece by contacting them, and they demonstrated excellent service. They were a bit slow to respond, but fulfilled my needs perfectly. Or you can always get help from your friends here at BC : )

I'm 5' 3"- Will a small be OK for me? I need something that covers up to my mid-thigh.

Without knowing your weight or some sort of torso measurement it is very tough to estimate whether the small will be a good fit for you. However, simply it terms of length I would say that the small in the Norrona Lyngen Lightweight Down should come just past your hips but not quite to the middle of the thigh.

Are the feathers visible through the yellow saffron colored jacket?

I Bought this jacket and yes some of the darker feathers are visible through the yellow. There are not too many, it does tend to look as if the jacket is dirty though.

It's a gorgeous jacket/color and I would buy it again!
