As noisy as the plastic bag it came in.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I wanted so much to like this jacket, but it's so much crinklier than my poor lost Golite Bitteroot I can't stand it. Let's also be clear that this is Parka Length (with a low hanging back) and not Jacket Length (unless you're really tall). Most other things about it are awesome. Fit is skinny athletic and the finish is really nice. Hood is great, really warm, and maybe big enough for a helmet. I'm not a fan of the chin guard fleece, it packs with snow when it's blowing. The right amount of down for active Alaska day trips. But LOUD. Maybe it gets quieter with time and use? So sad.

Excellent

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Me: 6'1 160lbs slender size large I'm always skeptical about ordering online but I was told Norrona makes jackets for my body type. when I received it in the mail. It fit perfect with some room for base layer or sweater. Sleeves were perfect in length and so was the overall body length. If your taller and slender this is a brand I would recommend. It's nice that a jacket finally goes past your belt. Compared to Patagonia which makes jackets short and wide, Norrona has done excellent with size, shape, quality and style. Thanks!

I am 6 ft, 180lbs. Is the Medium the right size?

Warm warm warm!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've got a Rodal warm3 fleece and Narvik warm2 stretch hoody along with this. All of Norrønas' products are quality made and I see these as tools for the right occasion. What I really appreciate about the Lightweight Lyngen is that I don't need to wear multiple layers. It's windproof, superlight, and very toasty warm. I appreciate the fitted appearance and don't look like the stay-puff marshmellow man. All of Norrøna's zippers have the pull tabs on the left which took some getting used to.

Looked at the Arc'teryx Cerium and the consistent reports of leakage of down from the jacket turned me off. Also considered the Mountain Hardware Ghost whisperer, but the oversized wrist cuffs didn't appeal to me.

Got the dark color (Caviar) since I've seen reports that the darker color down can "bleed through" the lighter green and magma colors.

I'm 5' 8.5" and weigh 150# and the small fits perfect.

I have seen these online with green zippers on the pocket and a green full length zipper. Is this as pictured or with green zippers?

This jacket is as pictured with black zippers and green tabs.

were the 25th?? when should it be in?

Unfortunately, we don't have an exact date that it will be in. The backorder just uses the expected arrival date that is in our system. That date is an estimate as to when they will get it. There are 21 in Deep Purple size M that are expected to arrive any day now.

Fantastic Jacket

  • Fit: True to size

Hard to believe that a jacket this light can be so warm. Just right for this cold northeastern winter. The trim, athletic fit is perfect for me. And it looks great. It is true to size and accommodates layering easily. The longer length gives good coverage. I considered other down jackets but purchasing the Norrona was the right choice. Couldn't be happier with it.

Fabric is sensitive

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have had this for several months now, and just want to make those aware that this is not a pertex fabric or anything and is not as durable as some of the pertex and event fabrics out there. I ripped mine pretty quick with my harness. Though that was a little disappointing, it was nothing a little duck tape could not fix... Aside from that this is a very warm jacket and is amazing for packing small and layering up with. Sizing... well it is built for layering so if you are a medium it is going to fit large, and so on and so forth, but this is to allow layering.

Warm & Light

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have to say that this jacket is warmer than the inside of a tauntaun, and smells a lot better too.

"Lightweight"

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Don't get fooled by the term lightweight here. Even though it is labelled as a lightweight jacket (and it is feather weight), this jacket delivers when the temps drop well below freezing. All in all a great piece of gear from norrona

Super warm for such a light jacket.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Killer piece for mid-winter ski touring. Light and compresses down to nothing. Great big hood so you can hide out in it when the weather goes sour. High quality down and very durable shell material for the weight. I use this all winter guiding in a cold wet environment in Norway and it has never failed me.

I am 6ft 205 pounds. should I go large or extra large. I wouldn't expect to need a lot o layering expect under this one.

Height and weight doesn't really give me a very accurate guess to your size but I will wager you are going to be an XL. If you want a more accurate size prediction you can get your chest size and sleeve length and compare it to the size chart up by the price and where you measurements fall will be your sizing.

Responded on

Thank you Wayne; followed your advice and going with the XL.

Responded on

Curious how the newest versions fit you. I take a XL in this jacket myself and normally wear between a Large and a XL in US brands

Built for layering

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This jackets is amazing. It is warm when it counts. It fits over a Gortex shell with ease. It has extremely deep hand pockets. It is helmet compatible. It is one of the warmest jackets I own at this fill and weight. The only complaint I could make is I wish it had more pockets like a Napoleon pocket, but hey the other positive far outweigh this minute detail. The other thing I want to mention is the material is a bit frail comparatively to pertex fabric and fabrics like it. I tore mine on a climbing harness, but nothing a little repair/duct tape can't fix. All in all this is one of the best downies I have ever owned.

Responded on

Oh I am 5'10" 160 lbs and the medium is the only way to go for me. Again it is built for layering.

Do you think you could have sized down to a small Johnathan? Am 5'8 but slightly heavier. I look to fit between a S and a M but am not looking to wear this over a parker or jacked with layers. Just cutting around ski towns or under a parker as a high down solution to my current synthetic on coooold days

Down jacket

Very pleased with the purchase. Jacket fitted, closes the lower back. Down lightly getting out, noticed this when I looked at the seat when getting out of the car. In the store people asked where I got such a cool jacket))))))))))))

Ultra lightweight, very warm...

And it cut a bit longer so that it fits like a parka. My three problems with the jacket were that the exterior fabric seemed like it would rip if it came in contact with anything (though I'm just assuming), the hood wouldn't tuck away under or behind my shell comfortably, and the hood is cut in a cone-head shape.

If they made a version without the hood (or with a removable one) I would be all over it. I wanted to like it, but it just didn't work for me.

Responded on

What size are you looking for? I have last year's model (no hood) in size L that I am thinking about selling. It's in like new condition.
