A little too baggy

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I want to love these pants but they are too long and very baggy. I am 5'5" 140 lbs but have a thick waist. I was looking for a bib because all ski pants are too tight in the waist which is no good for a snowboarder like me - always sitting, bending and adjusting bindings. But they are so very comfortable I just may have to keep them, but I still haven't decided.

I'm 5'11" 175lbs. Male. What is the differents between M in male and L in female?

Best Answer Responded on

I am a 5'11" 155-160 lbs female and own both, the men's and women's version of this pant. men's version is longer and it has less space in the arse area. The rest is the same. Nobody will be able to say that you are wearing ladies pants instead of men's,unless they know this model and the season's colors and trims. Waist is adjustable. the length (inseam) of these is 34"in in Men's medium, 35" in men's large, 33" in women's large and 34.5" in women's xl....that's what makes the big difference for us tall ladies, but guys wear their pants lower in the crotch area, to accomodate the tools, so you probably don't need 36" inseam like i do. 33" or 34" inseam is probably enough for a male our height. Theseladies pant in L should be good for you, if you like the colors. The look is practically the same... Good luck deciding! And if you decide they don't look right on you, you are in luck, because backcountry.com has the best return policy i have ever seen.

Excellent, Durable Pant.

I have these bibs from two years back. I have well over 100 days of resort and backcountry skiing on these pants. For the amount of use they have endured, they are in awesome condition.

The zippers are totally waterproof, and I've never experienced any leakage with zippers or fabric in their 2 years of usage. The bib feature is awesome, and I will never stray from bibs ever again. I never get wetness or snow down the back, and the trade-off for difficulty peeing is well worth it.

The one and ONLY complaint I have with these pants is that the pocket seal on the older versions wasn't very durable. Both the leg pockets on my pants blew out when I loaded my (admittedly rather heavy) keys in the pocket. So I would advice against putting anything weighty in the pockets to prevent that from happening. This isn't a huge issue, as the inner pocket was seam sealed to the inner pant fabric, thus the performance of the pant isn't sacrificed. Just a bit inconvenient to only have the one tiny waist pocket still in usable condition.

I'm 5'3 and 120 lbs, the size small is perfect.

I am 5'3 120 and the smalls were all sold out so I decided to get the mediums and give them a try just to see if they would work. I fell in love with these pants online and there is no way I was going to return them once I tried them on! They are a baggy fit to begin with so they are fairly big on me but I have no regrets, they are amazing pants and I plan on wearing them forever

LOVE these pants!
I am 5'-6", 150lb and the M fit perfectly! The legs are roomy enough for fleece pants (for in bounds days) and also my muscly legs. They keep me dry and warm, and have an extremely handy detachment zipper between the bib and the rest of the pants so you don't have to peel layers if you need to drop trou. The bib keeps the snow outta my bum, while the unlined shell lets me pick layers depending on whether I will be in the backcountry or on the resort. Norrona FTW!

Do these pants have a drop seat or some other way to escape without removing all clothing layers?

Responded on

they do not have a drop seat

They DO however have a zipper that will detach the bib portion from the rest of the pant. SUPER handy.

Pro shell is the way to go

The Lofotens are made with a burly three layer fabric that will hold up to tree branches, sharp rocks, and ski edges. Heavy duty reinforced cuffs= huge plus, as that's where my pants start to shred first. Although not insulated at all they do provide some warmth due to the three layer gore-tex.

I'm 5'11", so finding long enough pants is always a big deal. I wear a women's size large and bought an XL in these to get the extra inch of length. I have a 35" inseam and they just brush the ground when I'm barefoot. For comparison, they are about an inch shorter than the Arc'teryx Sentinel in large/tall size (which I also LOVE!) The XL is pretty baggy, but the bibs hold them up and I have lots of room to move around. Love the bibs, by the way- they keep powder/wind out.

The fields of gold/festival fuchsia color is BRIGHT. Don't buy it if you aren't ready for the attention! Everyone will recognize you the minute you hit the mountain.

One other note- if you need even more length, the men's L fit me just a bit narrower in the bum, but otherwise seems to be an identical fit to the women's XL. I ended up with the women's because of the available colors.

Questions about inventory can tend to languish for quite a while here. Your best bet will be to click on the 'Chat Now' link at the top of the page to get in touch with a BC rep.

Do the full leg zips have the ability to zip all the way off or is there mesh under the zips?

Responded on

These actually don't have full length zips. They are 3/4 length zips and they do not have any mesh behind them. They are, however, two way zips to allow for venting.
