Does your backcountry rep have the approval of the Gods? Step into the Norrøna Men's Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell Pant and stomp your style into immortality. The Lofoten Pant features the world-renowned Gore-Tex guarantee and a host of technical features that place it far beyond the reach of average riding pants. Aramid fiber (think bulletproof vests) reinforcements protect these bibs from edges, scuffs, and saber-toothed rocks when you're boot-packing up the headwall, while the ergonomic pocket placement puts all your gear close at hand. A baggy, workwear-inspired fit sets the Lofoten Pant apart from too-trim backcountry bibs, and if you're lucky enough to own a Lofoten Jacket, you can zip them together for a setup Ull would envy.

  • Backcountry.com is the exclusive US retailer for Norrøna products

Bottom Line: Backcountry bibs for immortals and worthy humans.

Lofotens Rock

By:
February 3, 2011

These are the best ski/touring pants on the market. Yes, better than the Arcteryx SV line. Gore-tex Pro is the obvious choice for a Porsche of pantalones, it is uber-durable and waterproof, which is excellent for all but the most aerobic tours in spring bluebird. I have skied 9000 ft days in these and still not had a swamp in the lower compartment. Shorts underneath for warmer days in CA and long undies for the coldest days in BC and you're set. Crampons have never caught on the pants despite that the fit is nice and roomy all the way over the boots. This is a dream come true! The price is ridiculous, but you know what they say...

Details: I am 5'11", 165 lbs, the M is the ticket.

The pockets are well built and in all the right places. The bibs are super nice and breathe well to boot. The cuffs are strong and top quality. The colours... well, I have stopped caring about trying to match stuff, these are some bright pants!

Picture: a 60+ lb load and a long, late-night walk-in to the snow, and with the vents wide open this was no problem!

Just about perfect

By:
November 9, 2010

Have put in 100+ days in these pants, and I still love them. No signs of any durability issues. The fit is perfect, although at 6'3" and 180lbs, I will probably buy the XL the next time around (L fits well enough, but I'd like the legs to be 1-2" longer).

I have the Lofoten jacket as well, but end up never using the zip-together feature. Too much of a hassle to set up, and with the snow skirt in the jacket and waist protector in the pants, I've never needed it.

I have about the same build, 6' 2", 175 lbs. I would also like the extra length but how loose around the waist do you think the XL would be? I am worried about going that far up the size chart as it measures much more than my waist.

These pants are incredibly durable, water-resistant, and fit well both for skiing and climbing. Boot and harness compatibility is no problem, with plenty of movement in both cases.

Awesome!

By:
December 4, 2010

These have more of a freeride fit. A roomier nice baggy look without the sloppy. I'm 5'11" and 162-165 lbs. Have a bit longer legs for my height and the Mediums are the bomb for fit! Perfect length with the cuff breaking nicely on top of my boot. Plenty long. I'll see if I can upload a pic. Hey, if you get these I found that going up a size to a large in Norrøna Falketind Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket for me was the ticket. Medium Jacket looks too 'Svelt' with the medium Lofoten pant. But hey thats just me. Anyway bomber pant/bib setup. Really like the little stash pocket on the removable powder bib. If I made one improvement and its really looking for something to 'nit pick' would be to widen the suspender straps a bit. They work just fine the way they are but just in case Norrona is listening :) LOVE EM

I'm 5'11", 220 lbs with a 32" Inseam/36" waist. By the size chart this puts me into a medium... I'm never a medium. I'm afraid my tele thighs will not fit. How is the leg width in a Medium?

Travis,

I am 6'1", 215 lbs. I just received my Lofotens in a size Large. They fit very snug at the waist. I cannot get more than a t-shirt underneath. You won't fit into a medium.

They are manufactured in China. Don't judge them though, Norrøna has made a commitment to sustainability by recycling factory waste, utilizing hydro-electric power, and including recycled materials in their line. They are a very small company making products that will blow you away.

In the sizing chart it states that the smalls are a 32"

In the sizing chart it states that the smalls are a 32" waist, and mediums are a 35" waist. At the top it says sizing runs small, but I wont say my medium lofoten one piece is small at all, but would like these pants to look like i didnt just poo myself and not have the leggings drag everywhere.

I would normally say Arcteryx is bigger in the same size, but these are slightly more roomy than alot of the Arcteryx alpine pant.I am 6´and 190lbs and Large fits me nicely, XL for that baggier look.
