The Norrona Women's Lofoton Gore-Tex Pro Shell is guaranteed to keep you dry without extra bulk. The clean, simple style proves that simple is better.
Designed with a minimalist Scandinavian look, the Lofoten shell is ultra-lightweight to let you control your temperature through layering. When you're out exploring the islands Lofoton of Norway, the 3-layer Gore-Tex fabric, taped seams, and waterproof zippers block out precipitation of all forms. If the wind picks up, the Lofoten's extra-tall collar and one-piece hood provide protection from the elements.
PLEASE NOTE: This garment is fitted and runs true to size

Bottom Line: Explore the glaciers and be protected from harsh Artic Circle weather weathering the Norrona Women's Lofoton Gore-Tex Pro Shell Jacket.
A shell is just an outer layer without insulation that you would typically layer underneath to stay warm. Layering is typically better for active days so you can adjust when the temperature adjusts (i.e. when skiing). In this case the shell is made from Gore-Text Pro Shell, so it provides both outer protection from the elements and allows your sweat to escape well.
This was my first Norrona piece but def not my last! Such a great technical jacket! I've since added the Roldal jacket and the insulated pants. I'm 5'9/135lbs and the large works well. (heads up that I'm a medium in the Roldal jacket, so it runs slightly smaller).

After over 150 days of abuse (alpine and backcountry skiing, ski mountaineering and ice climbing), I'm finally replacing this ace jacket.
This jacket totally delivers in every way: aesthetics, fit, waterproofness, packability, and design features including the hand gaiters and adjustable hood.
I'm trying to find another shell jacket that I can afford (got my Norrona jacket on SAC) but nobody has the style + function right like Norrona.
After 150+ days, I've had welds open up, have worn some holes almost entirely through the Gore-Tex, and had the hood wire poke through the shell fabric. All wear seems totally reasonable for the amount of time I've spent in this jacket.
why can't I find this jacket in the atoll/greenery anywhere! When I search for it it brings me back to this website even though its not here. ahh. Does anyone know where I can find this color?
In an effort to get my wife something other than the default Arcteryx or TNF shells, I ordered this for a Christmas present. It is over a month away from "field testing", but out of the box it is a stunner. Great color, (Blue Atoll)nice details. I suspect that wearing this will garner her the comments that people wearing Arcteryx in 2000 heard. Aesthetics are awesome - will report on actual use after Christmass
I'm in love with my new Norrona Lofoten Jacket. I debated buying the jacket online because I was hesitant about the sizing, but I was sold on the color. The jacket fits great, so when people say the brand fits small that worried me. I'm glad I compared the measuring to a Helly Hansen jacket I had, and I took the risk. I live somewhere with a wet/slushy winter, so this jacket will be perfect for all outdoor activities. I know by the color that the jacket will get dirty, but at least it's washable. This jacket runs for about 549 Euros, so it's definately a deal here. :)
Hey tam, thanks for the comments. If you wouldn't mind, maybe elaborate on the sizing details relative to your HH since all Norrona stuff seems to fit differently than the stuff we know well in North America.
My wife used this jacket for spring skiing in April as well as hiking in cooler weather. It is very well made, incredibly waterproof and well ventilated. This is just a shell so you need to layer accordingly depending on the weather. This works great as a waterproof and windproof ski shell but dirt shows easier with the white color. We would definitely suggest this jacket.

Love the jacket and color (Atoll blue). My only need was front hand pockets (there's only the 2 chest pockets). I'm 57 and my hands are always cold; I tried wearing it twice and just found I needed a place for my hands after skiing. When Norrona adds hand pockets to this, I'll buy it again in a heart beat.
There are no hand pockets on this jacket because they would interfer with a backpack or a harness... But the Røldal have great handpockets if that's what you're looking for.
The jacket fits more flattering than arc'teryx plus the colors are more interesting. The sleeves are kind of weird though. They have a little extra fabric that lays over the back of the hand. I haven't quite figured out what's it for - maybe water run-off? The snow skirt fits wells and zips out too. There is an ipod pocket with flaps to secure the headphone cord. The sulphur springs is blindingly lime/green, but the blue atoll with maroon zippers is beautiful. Nice, superlight, attractive jacket overall.
I love this jacket like no other ski shell. Excellent coverage at the wrists, face, hood, backside.... BUT... The right hand pocket blew through on the inside. Major annoyance considering the price and the quality of the jacket on the whole. (Love the little zipper garages, so cute!)
Contact Norrøna directly and ask them to fix it. I don't know how this works from abroad, but here in Norway they have excellent service and will fix it for free if it's a warranty thing, or for a very small price if it's your own fault.
A little intimidating right out the box, this jacket earned my love at windy Snowmass today!! The size large was plenty roomy for me at 5'9" 150 lbs. Note: you need "inside" gloves that go inside the sleeve. The arms are long with this gauntlet-like cut. Tighten up the wrist velcro and you have totally unshifting freedom of movement. While my friends were wind-beaten on the chairlift, I was impervious in Gore-tex Pro. The colors are the most eye-catching on the whole mountain. I look like an alien with the hood up in the sulfur color, but in fact I could ski comfortably with that hood up--something I do not usually do when only using the hood on the chairs. The zipper garages are the cutest. I'm a big girl with my own attached goggle wipe. This jacket is so MONEY.
I can't tell from the photo, but does this jacket have a zip that you can un-zip from the bottom of the jacket?? I find it a really useful function and have decided against getting an Arc'tyrex jacket-despite their great colours, because they don't have it!!
this is not only the most beautiful outer shell i've ever had, but also the most functional one. all those little details that work and yet the jacket's design stays pure. the colours are amazing and will help people recognize me in the backcountry as well as help me look better on photos :) the fit is flattering, too. great jacket, great price.
how long is the jacket? I need it for snowboarding and also for hiking in rainy tropical weather. Is is breathable enough to wear it in warmer wet climate?
This jacket is ideal for snowboarding and also for extreme conditions-like those in rainy tropical weather. It's definitely breathable enough to wear in warm wet climates. As for the length- I can't get the exact measurements anywhere online but it looks like it hits around the hip area. Cheers!
Wearing the Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Shell on Lofoten island in Norway. Hiked up for 2 1/2 hours in varying climate (warm at bottom, cold and windy at top). The fit was amazing and I was even more impressed with its venting and adaptability to my body temp in the varying temperature changes. Great protection. Super easy to fold & pack into bag if needed. Love the contrast colored zips & multi-use pockets as well!
Is the girl in the picture wearing a women's Lofoten in "Sulfer Spring"? It kind of looks like the "Birch Green" color. Also, on the Norrona site the women's Lofoten jacket doesn't have the pink stripes all the way on the side like it does in the picture. That jacket looks amazing, and I want to make sure I'm buying exactly the same one! =)
My experience on this site and others is that less-demand colors of various products get marked down to move the inventory. If blue sales are robust, the high price sticks. That Sulphur Springs is VERY BRIGHT but I still like it. Cheers!
I loved my jacket. I wore it a few times, and even had lots of pictures taken, as we opened a new lift-access bowl here in Telluride, and I helped with the ribbon cutting ceremony. The jacket looks even better than I imagined in the pictures! Anyway, my jacket got stolen out of my luggage the week after Christmas. I would totally buy this jacket again. It's super. I got lots of compliments, it was comfortable, and the quality superb. I really miss it...
I tend to be a medium, but the large worked perfect for me, as I wanted to be able to wear layers underneath.
I am tall (5'10") but pretty thin. I am always annoyed with jackets with short sleeves. I am worried that if I get the XL I will look lost... there are no other sized left but small. I heard they fit small too, anyone know if the XL is huge or just a bit bigger?
With European jackets, usually order a size up. My Norrona is an XL and I generally wear a medium across the board in Arc'T, TNF, MH, Burton, etc. From experience with Norrona, the medium will fit but a L will give you the ample arm-length you want. Also, the cut is close fitting with room for ample layering. I hope this helps.
I'll come back and increase the stars after my upcoming trip to Colorado since I can't really attest to how it will hold up outdoors until I get there. Right now, I can only attest to the look and fit of the jacket. The jacket itself is very well constructed, with a nice rugged material. When checking out the size guide, note that the dimensions are likely for the jacket or clothes themselves, not the measurements of the individuals buying. So imagine what your bust, waist and hips would be with some layering and buy accordingly. I am usually an XS or and S, and the XS was like a skin-tight bodysuit once I threw on a sweater and slim fleece underneath. S is good but still very slim. Enjoy!
This was my first Norrona piece but def not my last! Such a great technical jacket! I've since added the Roldal jacket and the insulated pants. I'm more...
