When all the fair-weather skiers are huddled in the lodge, you’ll be out catching freshies thanks to the Norrona Women’s Lofoten Gore-Tex Primaloft Jacket. This puffy ski jacket features a Gore-Tex Performance Shell fabric and Primaloft insulation for maximum warmth and weather protection. Waterproof zippers, an adjustable, helmet-compatible hood, and a removable powder skirt help seal you off from nasty storms, and underarm zip vents let you dump heat after a sweaty hill climb. Norrona also added a feminine fit to do away with that marshmallow look, and an interior MP3 pocket so you can rock your tunes while you tear it up.

  • PLEASE NOTE: This garment is fitted and runs true to size

Keeps me warm and toasty

I LOVE this jacket. I am always cold but not anymore! I live in Utah, but I'm from Georgia so I'm a total wimp when it comes to the cold, and I go skiing almost every weekend so I've experienced all kinds of weather. On super cold days I wear a fleece vest underneath and I'm happy. I've worn it for 2 seasons now and it's still as good as new.

Solid Jacket for the Cold Wife In Your Life!

By:
January 2, 2009

I bought this jacket and the pants for my wife this christmas for a trip to Utah. My wife gets VERY cold, so much so that she informed me that last years trip was the last due to her being so cold!!!!!!

This jacket is very well made, the sleve gaiters work very well and has a pocket for ipod's, if your into that kind of thing. To get the best of the jacket you should by the pants as well, they provide 2 attachemnts for the snow skirt-press-stud and zipper. When the zipper is used the jacket becomes part of the pants.

On the first day of skiing my wife wore another primaloft under the coat, by the second day she was wearing 3 thermal tops and the jacket on its own.

The sizing is a little off and runs big. my wife is petite size but has swimmers shoulders. The jacket fits great if a little too long in the sleve. The pants are a little long but on skis its no issue.

Based on this buy, I would def. buy this brand again, well worth the cost.

Amazing jacket! I wore it in weather with wind chill at -20 with only my long underwear on and felt as warm as when I wore the same combination on a 30 degree day!

Can anyone who bought this jacket help with sizing for my wife? I'm trying to figure out if she is M or an L in this jacket. She is 5-7, 130 and wears medium Patagonia jackets (non-fitted). She usually wears multiple layers underneath..
Thanks!

I'm 5'6 145 and LOVE the medium. I'm usually layer-crazy, but find I really don't need much under this jacket, even when it's really chilly, since it stops the wind and keeps all the water out. I love the tight fit on the powder skirt in the Medium. I found it, ironically, to run a bit larger than I expected.

I'm 5'8 and 135 lbs and I wear L in Patagonia and I got this jacket in L and it's perfect. I wouldn't want anything smaller, in part because I want the freedom to wear layers underneath, also. I like more range of motion in my shoulders. I'd try a large for her because better a bit too big in my opinion for a ski jacket than too small. I love the jacket, by the way.

Mike,
based on the information you've given. I compared it to a similar Patagonia item: (http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Patagonia-Powder-Bowl-Jacket-Womens/PAT1173M.html)

and if you compare those size charts your wife is a solid medium. This is a European brand and it tends to run long..just something to keep in mind.

Great brand, great construction, I think shed love it!

Love the color...wore it in VT skiing...it wasn't a typical subzero day..it was a typical damp drizzly day...jacket was great..magenta color is fabulous..and I typically wear black jackets. It goes great with my leopard ski pants! on the 3rd day it was 50s and spring skiing..and with just one shirt under it it worked well in warmer climes too! AND best of all NO ONE else has this jacket!!

Warm!

By:
October 6, 2010

I love this jacket because unlike the Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro this has insulation. You still need to wear some layers in frigid temps, but it definitely keeps you warm--trust me since I have Raynaud's syndrome. The pit-zips are especially helpful in not overheating. I'm 5'1" and have broad shoulders, but I opted for a medium. The arms are a bit long, but I don't mind. I would consider buying another one in a brighter color.

When it's in the 20s in Vermont, I wear this with a single layer of underarmor and I'm comfortable. If it's colder than that, or windy, I wear underarmor with an extra layer (icebreaker 250 merino wool "base" layer is my second layer) and I've NEVER been cold in this jacket.

Good question. Without being technical I wouyld suggest that it could handle the 20f range on its own very easily. Add a second primaloft and you will be set. The jacket and pants have great wind protection. As I stated, my wife will be cold at 30f on the slopes. She has never complained of being too hot while skiing, untill this xmas.

Norrona loften primaloft

This is a great jacket. I am a solid medium and the medium fits me perfectly. I with the sleeves were a little longer, but I guess the sleeves are made to have gloves go outside and not inside the sleeve. There are really long hand gaiters to keep snow from coming up. The powder skirt sits higher up on the waist, but I snowboard so my snowboard pants sit a little lower than technical ski pants. overall the jacket is great and the insulation keeps me nice and warm. The vents on the sides do not have mesh or anything to keep things out.

the color is fantastic I have the blue atoll color. The close up photos show the color true. Magenta zippers and a very pretty bright light blue for the jacket color.

That headline is a little missleading. If your looking for a shell, this is not it. This jacket is a midweight down jacket. It is super warm and is perfect for girls who freeze on the chairlift after busting a move down the slopes.

The construction is premium with welded seams and comes complete with wrist gaiters. I would highly recommend this jacket because they didn't skimp on anything. I trust norrona because its the best.
