Wear the Norrøna Men’s Falketind warm1 Jacket under your shell for winter adventures and alone during cold days at the crag or on the trail. Norrøna made this soft, pill-resistant fleece jacket from recycled bottles for a reduced carbon footprint. Stretch panels at the elbows and sides ensure the Falketind warm1 doesn’t ride up or impede your moves. This toasty jacket has a close fit with room for base layers.

Not sure what the sizing issues are

By:
January 11, 2010

I am 6' 165 lbs and usually wear a medium. I bought the medium in this jacket and it fits perfectly. Besides the sizing, the materials, cut and look of this jacket are amazing. I used it as a mid layer snowboarding many times and it works great. Basically in temps down below 10 F I was fine with it over a icebreaker 200g and the insulated NORRONA Loften jacket as my shell. The warmth to weight ratio is very good.

European Sizes tend to be smaller

By:
December 30, 2009

This is the only place in North America I believe you can get Norrøna products so I'm sure the sizing is strictly European.

I ordered this in a XL as I have been a XL most of my adult life.
Luckily I've lost almost 40 lb. and this fleece fits me very snugly albeit very flatteringly, like most N. American Large sizes do now. The lengths of the garment and the sleeves are good but if I still had a beer-belly this thing would look ridiculous on me.

Needless to say I suggest you keep that in mind and go one size up unless you want a tight athletic fit.

Tall+Skinny=Love This Jacket

By:
February 17, 2011

Great jacket all around, fit well, packed nice, caught it on sale so it was a great buy, love the fit for a tall skinny torso, norrona is proven their weight. Used it hiking in low 30s and as mid layer skiing in low 20s, had my armpit zips open the whole time and didn't even use neck gator from the tall collar.

Long, not wide

By:
August 18, 2010

I'm 6'1", 175lb, so I ordered a L of this item. The size is as expected; perhaps the length could have been a bit longer, but it fits in the shoulders, chest, and stomach. Fits quite well in the Arc'teryx/viking style.

My issues are with the sleeve length: the sleeves are long, since they have partial hand covers (notice the thumb hole in the picture above). However, even with my arms completely outstretched, there is still some slack in the sleeves.

Also, the collar is ridiculously large. Not recommended for casual use, since the collar simply will not sit right when it is folded over like a normal collar.

The jacket is extremely light, but feels very warm. Unfortunately, I haven't had it long enough to test in especially cold weather.

A Green optiøn...

By:

Norrøna makes some high quality products, but the sizing tends to be very small by American standards. With many other company's products I wear a large or sometimes an extra large. I ordered this fleece in XXL and it is still a little too small. The quality and the feel are superb however and sizing aside I am very happy with the purchase. Oh yeah, it is also made with 50% post-consumer recycled materials so it is a progressive and green option in outdoor apparel.

tiny!

By:
December 23, 2009

i normally wear a size L for most shirts and jackets. this size L is like a men's M - easily. this jacket could fit my nephew.

it would be great if the company would let you know how much smaller this jacket is than other fleece jackets. could have saved some time and money.

as for the jacket itself, it is very thin and i'm not sure how it could be very warm at all. very disappointed.

next time you might want to ask a BC gearhead if sizing up is recommended. they are pretty good at helping w/ that type of thing.
