Falketind Softshell Jacket - Men's

Norrona made the Men’s Falketind Softshell Jacket for a low 20oz, so you don’t feel weighed down on a big route in the mountains. Ultra-breathable Flex nylon fabric helps you say cool, and a DWR coating helps you stay dry when the weather cuts loose. A slew of stitchless seams increase weather protection while shaving weight at the same time. Norrona cut this jacket with a slightly slim shape to keep it from getting tangled in your gear as you push for the summit.

Norrona Softshell

Lightweight shell with a very trim fit. You will likely need to size up, but if it fits you this is a nice piece of work. Not for the most extreme conditions perhaps as the material is very thin. Breathes well, and seems durable. Some great design features, like the hood which is easy to adjust and has a stiff brim-very cool, and the pit-zips which are the easiest to operate of any jacket of any type I have ever owned. Note the BC description noting no core venting is incorrect. I bought it on sale and am very happy with it at the price I paid. I might be a little reluctant to pay full price perhaps. I am using it mostly for hiking and backpacking, although the intended use is climbing etc.

Has anyone tried this jacket in the wind yet? I'm just curious

Has anyone tried this jacket in the wind yet? I'm just curious how it would stack up to the MHW Dragon or TNF Valkyrie jackets. Thanks.

I've just been out in cold norwegian autumn weather, windy and a fair amount of rain, and this jacket keeps it out! Of course it has its limits, but if you combine with a good fleece that will keep you warm, this jacket will keep the wind out.

Good Jacket, but not for me.

I have a Norrona GTX shell that I use all the time snowboarding and it's great. When I saw this jacket I was pretty stoked, as I've been looking for a good quality softshell and I really like the fact that you don't see Norrona everywhere. Unfortunately, when I got it the real thing wasn't quite like it looked on my monitor - my two main issues were the color and the length in back. Online I loved the green color, but when I opened the package it was very bright - like neon 80's bright. As for the fit, it drops down a lot lower in the back than it looks online. Great for certain activities, but not for my taste or how I intended to use it. If it had been $100 cheaper, I probably would have just lived with these issues (and probably loved it), but when I'm spending that king of $ on a jacket I've got to really like it. I agree with DeskDiver, though, material-wise and fit-wise I was very impressed. If you're looking for a very bright technical softshell that drops down really low in the back, look no further. If you're not, keep looking (or go with the black).

The Falketind is Killer!

This is a solid softshell for the spring season. It is lightweight, versatile, and verty stretchy. I have found myself using it in a variety of conditions and been very pleased. The Falketind also travels very nicely. It is very breathable, the chest pockets provide ample storage, and the vents are more than enough. I am 5'10", 140 and am a medium the majority of the time. The med in this piece fits me great. I have also layered with a primaloft jacket underneath while wearing this jacket in colder temps. All in all nothing but positive comments about the Falketind softshell.
