Powerful and precise boots don't actually have to hurt.

Nordica's GPX family is all about all-mountain domination, from the mellowest GPX 100 to the slightly rougher GPX 100, but neither of them can match the GPX 130 Men's Ski Boot when it comes to all-mountain power and precision. Even so, you can slip on the 130 and ski hard from bell to bell without spending half the day sitting by the fire making sure your toes haven't actually fallen off.

The GPX 130 has, as you might've guessed, a pretty burly 130 flex rating, along with a relatively narrow 98mm last provides a snug, fairly aggressive fit that makes railing corduroy, skipping through bumps, and zipping between trees exercises in high-speed fun, not teeth-chattering terror. The Race GP Cork Fit Primaloft heat-moldable liner hugs the contours of your foot for comfort and precision, and the Full Shock Eraser bootboard takes the sting out of jumps, hardpack, and bumps so your feet absorb less punishment. Made of PU, and the cuff and shell provide a firm and consistent flex in all temperatures, and Nordica gridded the shell with its Bootfitter's Best Friend system, which makes it easier for bootfitting experts to punch and grind the shell to your exact specs.

While the performance of the boot is awesome, comfort and customization are what sets it apart from similar boots. It has canting and flex adjustments, so you can personalize the fit, and all the hardware attaches by screws instead of rivets, so full customization is much faster and easier. GP dual-articulating buckles make opening and closing the boot super simple, and the Intuitive Easy Entry instep panel is softer than the rest of the boot, so no tears need be shed while you're trying to get your chilly boots on in the morning. Nordica also integrated its Full Motion Pivot, which allows increased customization around the ankle, and topped the GPX off with replaceable Extra-Grip soles for easier hiking and smoother parking lot navigation.

    Fits the bill

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have about 15 days in these boots and a have been loving the fit and the way they ski. I picked these up after a season and a half of failing to get my Lange RS's to fit. My Morton's toe could never seem to find enough room no matter how much time was spent in the boot press. I tried on the GPX in the same size and interestingly enough, found them to have a bit more room in that area of the toe box.
I was most worried about my heel staying put when I first tried on the boot but molding the liner put the heel pocket on the same level as the Langes. My foot is fairly wide in the forefoot so I had a bootfitter blow out the sides of the boot and am very pleased with the fit. Similar to (but not as extreme as) an intuition liner, the fit improves as the liner molds so if it feels a little ambiguous out of the box, know that the fit will improve after molding or skiing the liners.

I am on board with the big plastic power strap and attached buckle. I also really appreciate the soles as they can be removed so a bootfitter can install Cantology wedges (instead of lifters) to fix your alignment. I get the same performance benefit of having an alignment without losing any of the traction when I am out of my bindings. Overall I am very pleased with this boot and recommend it to whomever it fits.
