Best travel companion ever made

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This bag is the best travel bag i have ever bought and i travel a lot. Its been around Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, Bali, USA, France, Greece and South Korea. It has been in all kinds of situations such as surfing, Snowboarding, Skating and many times to University.
I have had one for at least 3 years but I'm pretty sure i have had it 5 but i can't remember. Now I can't buy this in Australia any more so I'm gonna buy two more so once mine has completely died before I can't get them anymore.

It has a internal soft pocket at the top for sunglasses, a front pocket which is also a soft pocket with a headphone hold for your music player, a travel wallet with its own hidden pocket on the side with easy access, a bottom pocket to hold headphones or anything else you need to separate. It has a padded laptop sleeve with with two extra pockets for external HD or a mouse.

The big pocket has a small net zip at the top and a small divider that can hold a fee books, paper or magazines.
The smaller pocket has a fee more pockets on the inside with a pen holders. and as a plus you get 3 removable outer pockets that you can clip onto the outside or the smaller zipper has spots you can clip it as well

But i do think i have the version before this cause mine is all canvas black with what seems to be leather spare pouches.

Yea i Just found more picture of this bag and mine was the one before ethos one as it has different pockets. mine was called Night ops apparently. but if its close then should be good ill let you know once i receive this one.

Thanks for your input. I've been going back and forth on this or the Ogio Renegade. I'm gonna stick with the Shadow 1K. This will be going to Belize with me :D

Amazing backpack!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My backpack finally arrived a couple of weeks ago, and I've got nothing to say but positive feedback.

Although this certainly might be a huge backpack for some people, it suits my needs pretty well, and I'm sure it will suit yours as well. I'm a CS student and have been struggling with a cross bag over the last three years, and more recently it started to cause back aches. So I decided it was about time to drop it.

It fits any 11-17 inches laptop in its side pocket, which also has a small convenient pocket inside for your tablet if you happen to have one, and the back panel is thoroughly ergonomic and feels very comfortable if you walk and carry heavy stuff with you (like I do). At first I was skeptical about the removable pouches, and, surprise: they turned out to be useful! The soft material inside provides a sort of protection for digital devices whose touch screens can be easily scratched or shattered. The main first compartment opens up nice and wide with plenty of space for your chargers, your cords, or any other gadgets you may own; even your notebooks if you will.

The security pocket in the back panel also is very convenient. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase and the support I received from Brooklynn Hall when I was submitting my order. She's kind, nice and I definitely recommend talking to her on the chat. Thanks Brooklynn and kudos to you for providing me with a pleasant purchasing experience! (if only I could make a mention). Here's her profile anyways: http://www.backcountry.com/Store/community/userProfile.jsp?profileId=1300199870

Keep up the good work, people from Backcountry!

How's it held up? Any issues with the secret little bottom corner zipper?

Responded on

I've had this backpack for 3 years and it has still held up and its been around the world with me and uni and the zips have held up quite well. I have to say i did ruin the inside due to my uni books but thats my bad I'm looking at buying another one before i can't buy them anymore cause Australia doesn't have them anymore and it is hands down the best travel backpack i have ever had.

Does it fit 17.6" laptop?

Does it fit 17.6" laptop?

It's quite large. It may not fit in the slot specifically for a laptop, but it would fit right in front of that slot which has a nice cushion at the bottom so you don't have to worry about bumps when resting the backpack on the ground.
