I got this for my Brother for his Anniversary, he was super stoked on it. The watch looks nice, just wish it had the date on it.

Hows the dark wood and black combo? Nixon's website has it looking hella tight while it seems pretty lame elsewhere.

Frank, the watch looks great in person. Its hard to capture the actual wood face in photos and each photo will look different. I will say it looks just as rich as it does on Nixon's site.
Great style

If you just bought it, the watch should have shipped with a few extra links in the foam slot inside the box. If not, get ahold of Nixon here: http://www.nixonnow.com/service/contact-nixon.html

does anybody know why nixon uses two logos? while looking thru the sample pictures i noticed on some that there is a "nixon" brand while others have a capitalized "NIXON" logo
Zach Pina

Older stock photos are of the lowercase lettering, but all our current stock, and Nixon's current branding reflect the NIXON capitalization.

The new produced watches have the capitalized "NIXON". The older ones have the lower case "nixon".

The curvy font is the older font, the newer is the straight font, Nixon started to use the new in 2010 I believe :)

What type of battery does this watch need?

From "Nixon": Most of our watches can be taken to a certified jeweler for battery replacement. All models can be sent directly to us for battery replacement. You will incur a reasonable service charge for watches sent to us for battery replacement. This service also includes a pressure test to ensure proper re-sealing and water resistance. Please keep all receipts for battery and repair service made at certified jewelers. There are some specific models we suggest sending to us directly for battery replacement due to their materials or construction. Please call us for details at 888-455-9200.

Take it to a watch store or the watch counter at a department store. They'll replace it for you.

I know it states that there isn't a backlight but is there any illumination on the dial and/or markers? (I'm interested in the gunmetal with black dial).

It glows in the dark, but there's no light.
Big, tough, flashy - love it!

I've got the silver one with the black face, killer watch - its got a 300-meter waterproof rating, making it awsome for diving, surfing, and pretty much any water-based activity. I took this watch all over south america, was surfing with it, had it in the heat, camping, snowboarding, and it still looks mint. Only complaint is the metal strap pulls the hair on my wrists sometimes :P
Btw, check out:
http://nixon5130watch.com/
you can get it cheaper ($350 instead of $399).

I have been looking for a Nixon for a long time and was wondering what the difference is between the swiss and japenese version can any one help out with a diffusion I want the black and gold 52-30
Zach Pina
Member since
Yo Anthony, the 51-30 above has Swiss Movement, and the 51-30 Chrono (the version with the stopwatch/chronograph) has Japanese movement. No performance or quality issue for you to worry about, it's just the movement choice by Nixon. Just choose the colorway that you like the most!
Check the Black/Raw Gold colorway on the 51-30 Leather (http://www.dogfunk.com/nixon-51-30-chrono-leather-watch).
Great Watch

I've worn my black Nixon 51-30 (PU band) for let's see, about 28 straight months. Never a hiccup, still looks and runs great. I put an Invisible Shield plastic film cover on the face to avoid scratches and it's worked great! Lots of compliments too!
