We like Nitro's Select TLS Boot's quick-response and confident support. It has a removable tongue stiffener to fine-tune the boot's flex to match your riding style, while the advanced TLS 5 Twin lacing system ensures a comfy and secure fit every time. The TLS 5 lacing system makes it easy to individually adjust the tightness of the upper and lower halves of the boot, and when you're ready to get out of your boots, simply give the Bail Out tab a quick pull and the shell opens without a fuss.

Solid All-Around Boot
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I rode these 14 days this winter and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. These were all resort days, but I've got my first hike with them coming up in June and I'm confident they'll continue to shine. The first thing I noticed was a pretty quick break-in period. I didn't get them cooked at a shop, and other pairs of boots I've had sometimes took upwards of 5 days to get comfortable. These fit like a glove by the end of the first weekend. Honestly sometimes when stopping for lunch or whatever I don't even loosen up the laces, because I don't feel like I need any relief from the feel of the boot. I like the 2-zone speed lacing system. It's almost as good as the Burton system that has the 2 zones on separate sides of the boot. My only beef is that with both zones' pullers located in the front of the boot, they sometimes get tangled. It's a nuisance but not a huge deal. It takes a little practice to get used to loosening the laces: I move the little pull tab between the zones up and down to sequentially loosen the top and bottom. The lacing system can come loose but only if the pull strings get pulled down to disengage the clutches. This can happen by accident if you're not careful. However, if you can make sure the laces are set properly and then cover them up under an elastic cuff of your snow pants, then they stay put. It takes a little extra thought but you can avoid the problem. These boots are fairly stiff if you really crank on the lacing system, but you can get a good amount of flex depending on how you set the laces. The plastic insert that's incorporated into the inner boot lace felt weird and too firm at first. Once the boots were broken in it didn't bother me. You have to make sure it's lined up on the front of your ankle; if that piece is crooked and you try to tighten the outer boot then you might have a bad time. Insulation seemed solid. I didn't ride any crazy cold days, maybe no lower than 10°F...but probably pushing -20°F in terms of wind chill. My feet haven't gotten cold in these boots yet. No durability issues yet. The toe caps are showing some wear but not yet at risk of failing or any major problems. These are heavier than my previous pair of boots, but not crazy. For the insulation, features, and durability...well all of that stuff adds weight. I don't find it excessive, but like any piece of equipment that you carry around, you notice it.
