Sidewalk sharks do most of their damage when the sun goes down, but NiteRider's Mako 200 Light will help illuminate your path, so you'll see all the sneak attacks coming before they take you down. The Mako's single Cree LED bulb provides up to 200 lumens of life-saving light on high mode and runs on two easily replaceable AA batteries, so you don't need to worry about remembering to charge your light before you head home after work. It also has low and flashing modes so cars can see you, and trademark "gills" on the side that emit constant red light, no matter the mode, and give the Mako its name. The easily adjustable mount straps securely onto bars up to 31.8mm across, and the water-resistant casing won't have your light short circuiting after a few miles in the rain.

Initial Impression.... Great!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I've only used this a handful of times so far, but it's enough to form an initial impression of the light. I bought this because I'm new to road biking and didn't want to drop hundreds of dollars on a fancy headlight. I can't speak for the long-term durability, but it feels like it's going to last a long time. It's very bright, and had a few modes to choose from. I do a lot of winter riding, so I like the big button on the top, it works well with gloves on. The light pivots so you can adjust it left to right if you want, and has vents behind the bulb to dissipate heat. Overall, this is a great light at a great price.

Great Dollar-to-Lumen ratio!

Its a perfect commuter light. Good price for such a bright light. It has a dimming feature which is nice for when you're on a street that is lit and you don't need to run the batteries down.

It's also very easy to take off of the handle bar mount so you can bring it in with you when you lock up your bike or are not using it.

    I highly recommend NiteRider.

    I've got two

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I've got two of these guys- They're awesome for my morning commute. I use them so i can see the road, rarely do i pass any cars where i would use the strobe. the batteries have been lasting- been 8 months and i haven't changed batters. Good stuff! shine nice and bright and light my path- even good enough for speedy downhills on the gravel.
