If you're really good, you can identify cars and trucks at night, whether coming or going, by their headlight and taillight patterns. We doubt there are such enthusiasts in the world of bike lighting systems, but if there are, they'd instantly recognize the NiteRider Lumina 750 Headlight and Solas Taillight Combo. The bright team is packed with lumens, modes, and smart features to make it a great all-around light kit for the road or trail.
The Lumina 750 is the top-shelf of the company's cordless Lumina series. The LED bulb and lithium-ion battery are encased in a sleek, weatherproof, and very durable single-piece shell. Cranking out an amazing 750 lumens means the light's brightness is on par with that of a car's headlight. It features a flash mode and four solid light levels — high, medium, low, and walk. The light will last 1.5 hours at 750 lumens (high), 3 hours at 350 lumens (medium), 5.5 hours at 150 lumens (low), and 18 hours at 40 lumens (walk).
Out back goes the Solas taillight. The 30-lumen LED light has four modes (two flash and two steady) including a low, steady "Group Ride Mode" to save fellow riders from annoyance if you're riding in a pack.
Both the NiteRider Lumina 750 Headlight and Solas Taillight are rechargeable via USB. The Lumina can be installed on a helmet, or on a handlebar with an included quick-release mount. The Solas can install on your seatpost or seatstay, or clip onto a saddle bag or backpack. Recharging the Lumina takes about 6 hours (less with a +500mA power source), while the Solas takes 4 hours to recharge. The Lumina 750 assembly weighs 172 grams, and the Solas weighs 73 grams.
