Niner’s RLT was among the first of the latest generation of disc brake-equipped, fat-tire-clearing, go anywhere, do anything road bikes. Sometimes being first to market means missing crucial refinements, but Niner’s depth of experience in aluminum frame construction and great success in XC bikes gave it a leg up on the competition.
Niner used the same hydroforming technology that makes the Air9 come to life, which means they strip out all the unnecessary weight, while still leaving in enough for incredible pedaling efficiency.
You’ll find SRAM’s hydraulic disc brake-equipped Rival group on the RLT 9 3 —Star. It’s a group that nicely balances the RLT’s road bike form with its mountain bike heritage. The tires are Schwalbe’s Sammy Slick in a 35mm width, but know that you can fit a tire up to 1.75 inches wide.
