Wool Wash

Nikwax's new Wool Wash stands as the first cleaner that increases your wool garments' wicking properties. This Nikwax wash cleans your wool garments of soils and odors and thereby enhances wools natural wicking properties. This Nikwax wash won't wash away the natural water-repelling attributes of wool, it only washes away that which inhibits wool's ability to repel and wick moisture. Wash your fine Merino garments, as well as your favorite sweater and give new life to your natural wool garments. The Nikwax Wool Wash washes out easily, and because it's water-based, the Wool Wash is easy on the environment.

Makes wool better!

I’ve been using this product on my wool for years now and can’t recommend it enough. After one wash the wool feels plumped up and healthy. It’s hard to describe but it’s easy to notice. Wool is left feeling softer and more capable. I have no doubt it’s made my garments last longer and I don’t hold back on washing them regularly. Try it on your base layers, they will be noticeably less scratchy, even Marino wool as soft as it is feels better afterwards.

Always use this for my woolens now

I love this stuff! My wool socks and baselayers feel soft and like-new after a wash with it. I'm not fond of the smell of it as it has a kind of plasticky-chemical smell but it fades pretty quickly as the clothes dry and you're left with a very faint lemon-like smell. I recommend it to all my customers!

Does a great job getting the brand new wool smell and scratchiness out of wool clothing. I use these on merino wool baselayers that tend to be scratchy when brand new. This wash does a good job of softening the material up and making them more comfortable to wear quicker.

I use this on all my wool clothing, especially for hunting & camping! It makes a huge difference: wools are much softer & more comfortable after being washed in it. My wife has some sensitivity to wool, but after washing her clothes (socks in particular) with NikWax she can wear them without any irritation. A little goes a long ways! The large bottle lasts me almost 6 months of frequent, bi-weekly use.

Good but expensive

This is only my first impression. That said I tried it out on a load of wool socks. It seems to have done a good job and didn't leave a strong detergent smell. That one small load used 1/3 of the bottle though. I don't think I can justify using this product regularly because it isn't cost effective. I also didn't like that it recommended measuring in ml but didn't give a measuring device or even marks on the bottle to indicate quantity dispensed. I was a bit disappointed in that last part as it would seem to be an easy fix.

If you own merino, here's your wash!

best thing you can get to take care of your merino pieces, have been using it for 5 or 6 years i think, with everything from shirts, to socks, to heavy merino layers, always been great, not too much smell, no issue for me hunting in western states.

Keeps Marino Fresh

Works as advertised. Doesn't smell offensive like some detergents.

Perfect for merino.

I’ve been using this stuff ever since I was a little kid on all my wool socks, jackets etc now that I’m an adult and clothing has changed into high performance technical I can still count on Nikwax for all my merino.

Strong smell

We have now used this product a number of times, cleans well and leaves clothes feeling good but, even using less than half the recommended amount it leaves a very strong smell.
