Run the lightweight, storm-stopping Nike Kampai Jacket by itself for mild-weather park laps, or throw a layer or two underneath to stay warm during mid-winter storms. Storm-fit breathable water protection blocks moisture without making you feel like you're riding in high humidity, and the mesh-lined underarm vents quickly ditch excess heat when you're working up a sweat.

A full powder skirt blocks snow from flying up your back if you go down in the deep stuff; adjustable cuffs keep it out of your sleeves. Lock down the adjustable hood and cuffs when the wind starts whipping, and reach into the secure media pocket to crank up the volume and drown out the wind.

I'm looking for a ski jacket, and am wondering about how warm this jacket is without any insulation. How warm would just a shell be?

I think you've answered your own question: this has no insulation, so it will only be as warm as what you're wearing underneath... but with some protection from the wind.

Something important when looking at jackets (shells, jackets with a lining, and insulated jackets) is to fully understand how you're body reacts to the different weather conditions and aerobic output during snowboarding / skiing.

For some, this jacket is sufficient if they have a tendency to have a warm body and heat easily. If you find that your extremities are always cold then I'd shy away from wearing just a shell or a lined jacket. If you plan on building a 3 piece layering system, then this could be a great piece.
