Hi Laurel,
Unfortunately, this shoe was not made in a 2A width. However, it was built on a last that was originally used on cross country and track spikes so it tends to fit a little snugger to begin with. Hope that helps.

I was already partial to New Balance trail shoes for their minimalist structure and because they're American made. The 840 model is lightweight yet provides the right amount of protection against rocks and roots on the trail. The grips on the bottom don't suck up mud, so the shoe stays light even on a damp trail. On the recommendation of a more experienced runner, I ordered a half size larger than the 7s I usually wear. The half size gives my toes sufficient room to expand and I'm hoping will let my dead toenails grow back! I wore them for the first time on a fairly technical single-track trail with a fairly steep vertical climb and didn't get a single blister or hot spot.
