New Balance built the Women’s 621 Trail Running Shoe to get you from pavement to trail and back again, so you can begin your run in town and head for the hills. The all-terrain outsole combines lugs for on- and off-road use, and the midsole combines two densities of foam—softer top foam for cushioning and denser bottom foam for support. A Rock Stop 2 plate in the midsole protects your tender tootsies from stone bruising.

Bottom Line: Why drive to the trailhead when you can run there?

I work in a warehouse and so far they have been great. I like the extra ventilation in the toes.

Great shoe

I wanted a shoe to replace my NB 790s and chose these. They are not as compact and lightweight as the 790s, but they are comfortable. I use them for walking and for my job as a nurse and they keep my feet supported for both.

Down and dirty

By:
October 2, 2009

I thought this NB 621 would be the perfect shoe to replace my NB 540's, which has been my favorite shoe ever! On the plus side, these shoes are very light weight, fit well, and have fairly good traction. They are designed to work equally well on pavement or unpaved trails, and I do like that feature. However, a big drawback is that there is no lining beyond the heel area of the shoe. All those little holes may provide ventilation, but they also let in an amazing amount of dirt! After a couple of miles, my feet start to feel heavier and heavier due to the accumulation of dirt inside the shoe. My socks get so filthy that they don't even come clean in the wash. I have a choice of a paved or dirt trail near my house, and usually choose the dirt because it is easier on the legs. With this shoe I am starting to prefer pavement in order to keep my feet clean.
