Description

Ethereal weight and unbelievable performance.

Your small, fast-packing backcountry party will sleep comfortably inside the cleverly designed NEMO Espri 3P Tent. Ample weatherproofing fends off three seasons of weather, and the lightweight design feels easy on your back. NEMO engineers love to incorporate clever, functional design into their tents, and this well-ventilated shelter is no exception. By using large cutouts in the fly, waterproof panels on tent shell, and a large rear vent, the engineers ensured that air will flow freely inside, even with three hot bodies sweating up the place. Sounds pretty good, right?
  • Ruggedly reliable yet lightweight PU nylon panels in the shell help this tent last season after season and repel rain and moisture in spots the fly doesn't fully cover (by design)
  • Updates for 2012 include steeper front walls for more interior volume and waterproof panels on the doors for drier entry and exit
  • Scoop-style shape keeps the rear vent open at all times for plenty of fresh air
  • Large fly cutouts help shape the fly so it's easier to tension correctly and so air flows more naturally
  • Two styles of vestibule setup allow for a standard setup or an option trekking pole setup
  • Optional overhead gear loft keeps your small essentials close at hand
  • Ultralight fly door, standard vestibule, light pockets, stuff sack, stakes, and repair kit are all included

Great Backpacking Tent

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try this tent the other summer while on a backpacking trip in the Sierras. I have very little complaints and found the Nemo Espri to be a great 3 season tent ideal for backpacking and camping.

It is definitely not the lightest tent out there, but with a minimal weight of 3.6 lbs it is certainly not heavy. We used the vestibule and rain fly almost every night and were always kept dry from the rain, and never wet from condensation. The tent is spacious for 2 and I suspect it would still be quite comfortable for 3.

Most importantly, I found the tent to be durable and easy to pitch with 1 person. We had no problems with the tent, and enjoyed it's ease of use. While I would not call this an expedition tent, it certainly held up well to the wind and weather of the high Sierra.

is this a good cold weather tent for the andes? sometimes we camp near snow so it can be a bit moist

Responded on

This is a 3 season tent so you won't want to take it out in the harsher winter conditions. However, it does have fully taped seams and a PU coating which means this tent will at 5000mm will be very water resistant though not waterproof. nMesh walls also mean that this tent will not be particularly good at retaining heat, especially when the rainfly is not attached.

if the denier is higher, ist better ???
i found a tent with this specs:
[fly] 68D polyester ripstop, PU coating (1800mm), [canopy] 68D polyester ripstop, [floor] 70D nylon, PU coating (3000mm)
i want to know wich one is better ? the NEMO o this other one?

What denier really translates to is mass and density of a fabric and what it loosely translates to is abrasion resistance and more importantly weight. The thing is nylon is more naturally stronger that polyester so its difficult to compare the numerical durability of polyester material and that of nylon. In this case however, that is a pretty wide gap and the other might be a little more abrasion resistant, but I will probably bet that its heavier as well.

whats the PU coating means?? what does it means 30D and 5000 mm???

Best Answer Responded on

Fiber is measured in denier and the 30D is in reference to its mass and density which basically describes its durability; 30D is pretty tough. PU coating means it has a Polyurethane coating on the sidewalls which will help repel water. The 5000mm is the measurement to which it will repel water and since 10000mm is considered waterproof (which the fly is) the sidewall of the tent itself is highly water resistant.

I hope that helps

What is the difference between "Trail Weight" and "Packed Weight"?

Best Answer Responded on

The packed weight includes everything you need to setup and carry the tent. The trail weight does not include the stuff sac, stakes, footprint, etc. It only includes the tent, poles and fly.
