Lighter than ever, and warm too.
Nemo Equipment Inc. added a layer of PrimaLoft insulation to its Astro Insulated Lite Sleeping Pad, and it's still lighter than the original Astro, so all you minimalist backpackers out there can still sleep warmly in colder temps. And the designers at Nemo were able to make it a half inch thicker than the standard Astro in order to ensure you don't feel the ground while you sleep ... and it still packs down smaller than the original Astro. This amazing design is due to the Airlock Elite fabric that holds strong welds without wasting an ounce. The lateral baffles prevent the sides from curving around your body uncomfortably. This pad comes with a stuff sack to keep this pad compact in your pack.

Best pad that I've ever owned
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
I don't normally leave reviews, but I love this pad. I would recommend for anyone to use. It's super lightweight and relatively quiet. It's great for people who love to sleep on their side. I've taken this all over the country now, and I have never had a problem with it. It also packs incredibly small. This is a piece of gear that everyone should own.
Terrible
- Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I should've stuck to what I knew: Thermarest. Instead I bought this thing that's made out of what feels like starched toilet paper and the first time I tried setting it up in a tent (ten miles in the back country, exhausted) it had two big holes in the bottom. It came with a patch kit in the stuff sack, which means I didn't have to sleep on the ground for three days, and that the manufacturer knows it will tear. It also does not provide enough support and is a total pain to set up. It's going back and I'm going back to Thermarest.
MUST for real sleep
- Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I've a newbie car camper and I almost gave up after 4 years of back breaking nights of shivering "sleep." I told my husband, don't call it a camping , it's pulling all nighters but with back pain in the morning. Well after 4 years, I finally did my own research made the investment and spent some real money instead of using my husbands beat up old gear. This item was highly rated on an outdoorgear blog. I slept better camping than I do at home on this mattress! Paired with my Big Agnes Ethel sleeping bag, I slept like a baby out in a rainy cold campsite. My husband calls my gear the spaceship setup, it's so beyond his "classic" foam mats and cheap sleeping bag. Thanks to this setup, I'll be able to continue enjoying the outdoors like I've wanted to, without the back pain and all nighters.
