Hey Jerry,
So I first of all have to ask, have you adjusted the seat as much as possible. Moving it back might make it easier for you to utilize those braces. If you have done that, the other option you have is to remove those all together and replace them with some lower profile form of padding. This can be purchased from any white water supplier. I hope these were helpful suggestions.

This is the manitou "select" 14. Same thing, just made with recycled plastic. I took it out to a lake near my house right after work the next day I got it. Very smooth, fast, and tracks nicely. The lake is a small one in northern Virginia called Accotink. Best. Name. Ever. :)

I purchased the Necky Manitou 14 last year and absolutely love it. I am 5'4" and 125 lbs. It is a dream in the water very comfortable seat even after 4 hours. I have been very pleased with how it performs on large lakes even in windy rough conditions. The down side though is the weight, getting it on top of a car is not too bad however lifting it up on top of our SUV definitly a 2 person job.

Got to tell you De Graaf, this is one solid kayak for around a grand. Has the dropdown skeg for additional tracking. You will have plenty of room in this one. Measures around 35" front to rear inside on cockpit. Plenty of room to stretch your legs out when you need to.
