Description

The Dash XP has you covered. Any time, anywhere, and in any light.

Interchangeable lenses help you see clearly in any light condition when you're wearing Native Eyewear Dash XP Polarized Sunglasses. The wrap-around design gives you more peripheral coverage for eXtra Protection (XP, get it?) from the sun. Hikers, runners, snow junkies, and other outdoor athletes will be blown away by how easily the polarized lenses cut through the harsh glare of midday sun. Whether you're boating on a bluebird summer day or trail running at night, just swap out your lenses for a lens tint to suit the lighting conditions. The Dash XP has a lens tint that will work perfectly. With this model, Native Eyewear included an optics kit complete with sunglass strap, a hard case, and soft case that doubles as a goggle wipe.

Comfortable, not very durable outdoors

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Great fit, very comfortable, scratch a little easily. The hard plastic tends to get brittle after several months of use in direct sun. Sunscreen also causes the surface plastic to flake and disintegrate.

Great for the car or casual use, a little pricey for constant outdoor adventuring.

Superb optics!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Been sporting Native Dash optics since 2004 and can't disagree more with John's comment of "The Natives are made for driving in air conditioned automobiles, no more no less."

Note that these fit _my_ face well, I have a largish sized melon, you might want the Dash SS if you have smaller head. Your "fit mileage" may vary...

They keep mud/rocks out of my eyes on downhill mountain bike rides. Other pairs/brands I tried have too big of a gap between lens and cheekbone. I can't "seal 'em up" with a cheek squint like I can with these, a huge positive if you ride.

In bright sunlight ("Sahara like sun at high elevation on snow") they knock it down well. The large brow actually acts like a mini visor when needed...

They vent very well when perspiring...and I sweat a lot. I use them running (ran a marathon in humid conditions), climbing, skinning, XC ski touring, road/mountain biking and even driving my rig down the road. :-D

A huge bonus for fellow long hairs is the lack of rubber ends on the arms. When my hair is back in a pony tail, they don't pull a few strands of hair out each time I take them off. (Native, please don't change this!)

They are tough. Mine have been dropped/thrown/kicked dozens of times with no issue. I have sat on them in a pocket another half dozen times.

The clear lens option is great for that last ski/board/bike during end if day low light conditions.

The storage case is awesome, keeps them safe when not in use during for multi-day hikes and winter tours. It also can be used to store other valuables in your pack, plus they hold the spare lenses...genius.

Warranty and customer support is top shelf. If they fit your head, I don't think you can go wrong. Compare the price to other brands with polarized interchangeable lenses and these win nearly every time.

PS. No,I don't work for Native...just love the product and want to share! Only wish is if they could cover lost glasses under warranty. :-/

LOVE THEM

I just ordered my second pair of Dash XPs. Older version were lost, but lasted for 5 years before MIA. Native is great with fixing/replacing lenses and/or frames when glasses break - nose piece, lens, whatever, doesn't matter. Warranty service is sick. You just send in $25 with broken lens/frame and they'll send you a new pair.

Super light weight. I wear them for all outdoor stuff whether hiking, running, sailing, kayaking, etc. I sweat like a pig and glasses stay in place, no slippage, no fogging. Dropped them a ton, sat on them...and they still rock. Like them btter than Smiths, Nike and Oakleys

Initial Call: Outstanding!

Just picked up a pair of these in the Asphalt/Blue Reflex. They are extremely light and comfortable and the optics are great. I am taking a chance, going out of my Smith Optics comfort zone with them, but I think I'm going to like them. They have a big test coming up this week; I will report back and update my review shortly...

Edit/Update: I wore these on my Grand Canyon Rim-to-River hike last week and they performed flawlessly. No fogging, no glare, no light peeking in from the sides or top, and no distortion. No slippage, and they were comfortable the entire trek. These are keepers for sure...

Awesome glasses

They fit nicely, stick to your head well, and are perfect for any outdoor activity

good sunglasses

really nice sunglasses. Only problem is that when wearing them, they don't fully meet your forehead and light sneaks over the top. And for the month I have had them, I see no damage.

Super Comfy, easy fixes

These glasses are extremely comfortable but can wary on the two sides of durability. The frames can stand up to being sat on and dropped multiple times. However after what I would call light use, the rubber nosepieces continually fall out, rubber cement does a fine job to fix 'em though. The lenses are great, mine are cracked after heavy use but they are the best I have ever had. The frame vents and interchangeable lenses are great for cycling. Native's customer service is as good as they say, they replaced my cracked lenses without question.

Native Eyewear

I have broken two pairs of these. Native has replaced both frames and scratched lenses. I am very impressed by the customer service and love the eyewear...

Dash XP

Couple of things you need to know before you purchase these. The polar lenses are very soft and scratch easily. Replacement lenses are pricey (around 40 clams). After a few months of wear, the lenses will "spider web" in the corners. Mine lasted nine months including new lens replacement.

If you are extreme in your activities (i.e. skydiving, tour of duty in Iraq, or extreme sports, look at the Gatorz and pass the Natives on by. The Natives are made for driving in air conditioned automobiles, no more no less.

Big nose know's Dash XP

Great eye pro. Their frames are geared towards specific facial profiles. I dont see a size chart so you may want to hit the Native website for sizing suggestions. I have a big honkin nose and these are the best fitting sunglasses I have come across. I have had to use the warrantee once after running into something face first. I had nothing but a good experience. I was kept up to date by email. IIRC, you pay a $30 processing fee and get a NEW set of glasses. I thought it was fair, maybe that's just me. Nice looking and no peripheral blur, ballistic protection.

The native website says these glasses...

The native website says these glasses should come with two extra pairs of lenses, but this website says it only comes with 1 extra pair of lenses. Is that right or does it actually come with two extra pair?

Great fit, coating cracks

Bought the Dash SS for the great fit and loved them until after a few years the lens coating gets hairline cracks all over. Maybe from taking on and off for cleaning but at $120.00 I think it's inferior lens coating and unacceptable. After several calls they only responded to a nasty final lashing on their voice mail (which is all you will ever get). Finally the girl that called back was very nice but I can buy the replacement lenses at REI for $40 vs. $30 for warranty which doesn't sound promising from other people's reviews of waiting forever to get nothing. Will wait for back ordered lenses to get into REI in a month or so. At least the Dash XP will fit my SS frame which is still good.

Can I get Brown lenses instead of gray on...

Can I get Brown lenses instead of gray on the Maple Tort Dash XP?

Responded on

There isn't an option to get brown lenses standard with the Maple Tort Dash XP, but you can purchase the interchangeable brown lenses for about $40. Another option too would be to get the Wood Dash XP frame, those come with the Brown lenses and are similar to Maple Tort!

Shades are great, cust service? ehh

I absolutely love my dash XR's(discontinued), I've lost 2 pairs already and am on my third pair. My only issue is with Native's customer service....I was attempting to purchase replacement frames as I still had the lens pack from old shades I had lost. When they told me they couldn't do that, but they could give me the pro athlete price 'just this once' since I have onwed so many pairs, I was ecstatic, a pair of natives for $60, perfect! Well, until they kep ttelling me they were in the mail and it was all lies, when I called them out on lying to me they just said, "oh we had the wrong CC number, we'll get them out to you right away"....more lies, I never got them, that was 6 months ago. I am a sucker though, the shades fit my face so perfect I got another pair.

Great shades if you don't destroy em...

These are the best shades I've owned. Hands down. Except for the coating on the outside of the lens...polarization coating? I made the mistake of cleaning it with a tissue. and the coating wiped right off, so now it needs to be replaced for 40 bucks. Otherwise, they are great for mountainbiking because they don't fog up and glare is drastically reduced. Enjoy!! and remember- clean them with the supplied cloth only!!!!
