OG water bottle
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
Super durable and come in any color that you want. I seem to lose these bottles before they wear out. Grab an extra for a friend.
A Great Bottle
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
A standard no frills bottle. Always a good idea to have one around. Lightweight and great for travel.
Tried and True

Nalgene Wide Mouth bottles are really just the greatest. Simple and dependable. I love giving these as little gifts.
Standard In waterbottle

If you talk to anyone about what they use for water when hiking, climbing, skiing, well anything outdoors or even indoors. 9 times out of 10 they will say Nalgene. It has even gotten to the point where Nalgene is just considered the waterbottle term. Just like when you tell someone to "google it" even if they do not use google. Its the same concept. Ive used This waterbottle all over the country and even the world on multiple hiking and climbing trips. Ive accidentally dropped this bottle off of a climb at Enchanted Rock about 150 feet up. When I came down it was completely fine like nothing was wrong. They are INCREDIBLE!!
Awesome Bottle
I really like this water bottle. The wide mouth as many have mentioned make it to fill with water and ice. I have been primarily using this as a water bottle at the gym, but will probably be switching back to one of my HyrdroFlask's, at least for the gym. I like the insulation of the HydroFlask, and also the size - unfortunately the Nalgene doesnt fit in the cupholders on my favorite stair stepper, whereas the Hydroflask fits perfect. Same goes for cupholder in the car. I do prefer the Nalgene for camp/hiking/snowshoeing where the weight and capacity help out. Also, being winter I am not as worried about keeping my drink cold.
Classic
Why change what works? Nalgene's classic bottle has stayed just that over the years, classic. No complaints anywhere.
I like the bright colors b/c it's easy to locate in my pack.
And I like going with these over a hydration pack on ski tours. Much less maintenance than a hydration pack, and no freezing of the tube!
Standard Classic
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
This is my go-to water bottle. Finally had to replace
an older one whose lid melted on the heating element in the dishwasher. What can I say? BPA FREE! Standard mouth size
for water purifiers. Holds 750ml of wine. Survives well in the
freezer when making drink concoctions or infusing Vodka.
Simple, Rugged, Good Looking
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
Just got a new one of these after 8 years in a previous bottle. These do what they're supposed to do, for a really long time.
H2O and Vinyl

Where else are you gonna show off your sticker collection?!
...And a no questions asked, go-to water bottle. Durable and reliable for any of your outdoor water storage needs.
More Durable Than a Chunk of Iron
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
These things aren't actually indestructible but they're pretty darn close. I've had the same bottle for almost a decade and the only thing that wore out on it was the little cap lanyard which was really easy to replace.
Some people will try to dissuade you from using these while backpacking if you're being very weight conscious but if you're only doing easy day hikes then this thing is fine.
If you're just taking it to work/school/travel/everyday you're not going to find a better water bottle.
Super handy
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
I have 6 of these. I use them for wet and dry tasties.
State of the art plastic water bottle
- Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Bought this for my 2yr old Rhodesian Ridgeback so he had his own water bottle and stopped hassling me for H2O on our adventures. This thing is a cutting edge doggy water bottle that has all the features I would want in a water bottle so I know my four legged buddy is stoked. For all of his doggy water beverage needs. I love that it comes in a color instead of colorless. So does my dog. Would make a good projectile if the need arose and my dog could actually throw something with his paw. Still working on that doggy trick. He's slept with it every night since it arrived and still wants a piece of that ***. Even says Nalgene on it but I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Came with a sticker and a granola bar! Ate it quick. I was sooooo hungry. Also before I forget an instruction manual would have saved me hours figuring out how everything worked and initial set up. Thx Backcountry for my dog's new water bottle!!! Goat worthy!
Solid water bottle
- Familiarity:I've used it several times
It holds water, doesn't leak, and the wide mouth makes adding ice easy. Not the easiest to drink out of, I often spill all over myself just because my lips don't make a great seal on the gnarly threads....but that's really not that big of a deal.
A Backpacking Staple
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
I have used these bottles for years, and I will continue to do so. They are solid, they don't leak, and they they fit perfectly in my pack. I do recommend buying a narrow mouth bottle for drinking. I use the wide mouth bottles for packing cooking water and refills for my drinking bottle.
Glacier time
Drinking water from a glacier on Mt. Baker.
Don't leave home with out one.
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
Love these bottles. Started using one 15 years ago in the military, when my canteens would freeze during a cold weather training. The large mouth tops on the nalg would keep it from freezing. I was sold after that. And have had one on me me ever since.
Tried. True.
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
A greedy friend stole my 7 year old Nalg, so I was forced to replace. What more can be said about the steadfast Nalgene that hasn't already been pontificated to the masses? What trustier piece of gear IS there...besides perhaps the voile strap...?
I realize that I'm just asking questions and not actually reviewing the product. I hope you find that helpful.
Nalgenes work. They last. They are your best friend.
You can see mine here keeping me hydrated under the searing Mexican sun in an open panga boat.
The beauty of this situation is that you'll never know if my Nalgene contains beer (as its label would suggest) or a more hydrating concoction such as H20.
For this purpose I highly recommend buying a colored nalgene versus one that is clear. No need to be an amateur here...
GOAT STOKE!
Thank you for the free sticker! LOVE the color!
Classic
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
Its a classic Nalgene, what more is there to say? Oh yea, its wide mouth makes it super easy to clean and dry. And these things are so bomber you couldn't break one if you tried.... All while being BPA free! 4 Stars!
Amazing Water Bottle
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
This is a water bottle that gets the job done throughout the day. If you need a water bottle to help you stay hydrated through out the day this is it!
why doesnt Backcountry carry the kids Nalgenes?
Can boiling water safely be put in this...
Can boiling water safely be put in this bottle?
Yes, you can. It won't melt it. The question if chemicals leach from the polymer is open to speculation, but I will tell you that it does tend to give the water/coffee a definite flavor, but then again, so does leaving it out in the sun.
Thanks for your help!
