Surprised by size

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I really liked this bottle. I did expect a larger size as I have the 16 oz narrow mouth and it's marked for 16, but probably holds closer to 20 oz. This one is marked for 14 and holds 16 to the neck, according to Nalagene's website. In any event, I don't have it anymore, because 1-2 months after buying it, I dropped it apparently right on the seam on the bottom and it cracked. I was shocked, as I've had the other bottle for years and only the loop part broke; the plastic is perfect. I used both at work, so lighter use. I did take the older one along in a backpacking trip, but didn't have this one long enough to do the same. I may try another of these since I prefer the wide mouth because of the ease of cleaning, and will update if I do try another.
Btw, I dropped only from the height of my hand to the floor of the elevator. It's not as though it was from an abnormal height. The plastic does seem thinner than the narrow-mouth I own.

Great Size

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It's tough and has a wide mouth just like your trusty 32oz Nalgene but this bad boy will fit the cupholders in your car, stow in your lunchbox, and works really well as a flask in a pinch.
I use the ultralight version (old-style white material) as my coffee mug on the trail.

Great for Kids!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This mini Nalgene is perfect for kids. My 5 y/o love it because now he's got a bottle just like mine to throw stickers on and carry with him in the outdoors. Perfect size, and it's got the reliability of a Nalgene bottle to withstand all the abuse he can give it

Fantastic Flagon

If you like transportable water, this is a potential bottle for you. What sets it apart from other water transportation is the lack of leaking and the cool goat logo. From the low low price of $10.09, you can't go wrong.

Love my Goat Nalgene

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

On my latest trip, I was very jealous of my friends Nalgene's. They prove to be perfect when measuring amounts of water for cooking, or putting up a line for a bear bag. I am once again, a Nalgene loyalist.

NALGENE!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these.

They have a cool little loop that you can attach a carabiner for longer climbs as well as an assortment of accessories so you have straws, etc

I've had mine for YEARS and it's been everywhere from Big Walls in Yosemite to the deserts of Moab.

I think Nalgene offers a lifetime warranty as well.

I just wish backcountry.com carried the REALLY big one's like the one pictured.

Any ideas on that backcountry.com'ers?

Thank you!

NALGENE!

I agree. I love the 48oz silo size. I also like the old-style Nalgene material, like the one in your photo, I think they call it the Ultralight model now.

Great bottle

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I also expected it to be larger, like a regular nalgene size. However I still love it because it fits great in cup holders! Perfect for roadtrips

Great for Kids

Don't underestimate the value of an indestructible bottle in your child's lunchbox.

Great size!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

A Nalgene that fits in cup holders! Same great quality and durability as the big ones. They resist holding tastes really well, and you can bleach/soak anything out easily. This is the perfect size for in the car, in a book-bag, or for kids' hands. Buy a sipper lid, and it is easier to drink out of and clean than the narrow mouth models.

mighty fine

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Has a goat on the side which is great as BC don't send stickers with orders anymore, nor do they send free ones to Australia :( Tough, solid little drink bottle. Great for Ginger Wine when bushwalking, or as a mini hot water bottle when it gets really chilly.

Solid

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Over the years I have owned quite a few Nalgene bottles. Most of them have either been retired since they have lived their life to the fullest, or have been lost. I have yet to see one of these fall apart or get a hole in it. I love the wide opening so you can put full size ice cubes in your water or mix in your favorite flavored electrolyte mix. BPA free is a plus, but honestly what does not give you cancer these days?

Nice size, Nalgene tough, has the goat.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've had nothing but 1 liter wide mouth nalgenes before and grown to appreciate this 1/2 liters lighter weight and easy fit into daypack. Certainly is Nalgene tough. Most importantly the goat has you covered so you can tell it's your water from everyone else's. Downside to last point is you really have to keep your eye on your water bottle. ;)

Can someone who own this bottle tell me...

Can someone who own this bottle tell me what diameter it has (the bottle itself, not the mouth) ?

Responded on

2.5 x 6.5 inches

Responded on

I finally received an answer from Nalgene. Here it is, for the people who are interested :
"For the 16 ounce wide mouth Tritan™ bottle, the diameter is 2.72 inches (69.1 mm), the height with cap attached is 6.82 inches (173.2 mm), and the empty weight is about 89 grams (3.14 ounces)"

Nalgene is Durable!

I own lots of Nalgene bottles of different sizes and this one is nice and small. My kids use it and love it. I also keep it next to my bed in case I get thirsty during the night. I've had a friend shoot his old one with a shotgun and it to 2 shots to put 1 tiny crack in it! I threw one full of water off a 70ft cliff and it didn't break! That is durable! :)

I totally recommend the 16 oz Nalgene Tritan Bottle

I really like the volume of this bottle because it fits everywhere without being to heavy.
Also it is:
BPA free, Indestrutible and easy to clean.

bottle of many uses

I have a few 32 oz Nalgenes kicking around and they are for water and only water. Okay I mix emergen-c or an electrolyte pack in them once in a while. I drink a lot of water, so the 32 oz is great for that. This little guy is just over 16 oz.....just like a pint glass. I actually use this one to take cocktails on the go. The widemouth allows you to put ice cubes in as well. Works great on river trips when you need to cap off a drink. Always rinse after making cocktails though. Makes a good measuring cup when camping too.

Perfect for the back country

This is one of my essential back country items. I pair it with my Katadyn Pro Hiker water filter and fill it up over and over for drinking water and food preparation. The scale on the side is nice for measuring out just the right amount of water to pour into the dehydrated backpacking food.
