Can someone who own this bottle tell me what diameter it has (the bottle itself, not the mouth) ?

I finally received an answer from Nalgene. Here it is, for the people who are interested :
"For the 16 ounce wide mouth Tritan™ bottle, the diameter is 2.72 inches (69.1 mm), the height with cap attached is 6.82 inches (173.2 mm), and the empty weight is about 89 grams (3.14 ounces)"

I own lots of Nalgene bottles of different sizes and this one is nice and small. My kids use it and love it. I also keep it next to my bed in case I get thirsty during the night. I've had a friend shoot his old one with a shotgun and it to 2 shots to put 1 tiny crack in it! I threw one full of water off a 70ft cliff and it didn't break! That is durable! :)

I have a few 32 oz Nalgenes kicking around and they are for water and only water. Okay I mix emergen-c or an electrolyte pack in them once in a while. I drink a lot of water, so the 32 oz is great for that. This little guy is just over 16 oz.....just like a pint glass. I actually use this one to take cocktails on the go. The widemouth allows you to put ice cubes in as well. Works great on river trips when you need to cap off a drink. Always rinse after making cocktails though. Makes a good measuring cup when camping too.

This is one of my essential back country items. I pair it with my Katadyn Pro Hiker water filter and fill it up over and over for drinking water and food preparation. The scale on the side is nice for measuring out just the right amount of water to pour into the dehydrated backpacking food.

I love this bottle and use it at work and outdoors! It is very durable. I've thrown one off a 100ft cliff full of water and and it didn't do anything to the bottle! My friend shot his with a shotgun and it took 2 shots to crack it!

I wound recommend only using water in it though and don't let the water get to hot while leaving it in your car or it will start to smell like a fishbowl.

Pros:
• Indestructable
• BPA free
• Orange
• Fits in standard holders
• Perfect in every way

Cons:
• I only own 1

Buy these. Buy hundreds of these. Also, buy the larger ones, the 32 oz is totally bomber.

I've had my nalgene bottle(s) over a decade now and they are still great. I think this pretty much says it all: a trackhoe (Komatsu mid-range unit, weighs about 7000kg, or 16,000 lbs)with steel tracks ran over my bottle on blacktop. I thought it was done, but to my amazement the thing survived intact. That was about 5 years ago. I have to admit: it does have some deep scratches on it from that experience. That night I took it home and shot at it with the bb gun, filled it with rocks and dropped it off the roof onto the concrete drive (it bounced), and did a bunch of other stuff to it. Then I went out and bought a second.

i usually pair this with my full size nalgene, i use the full size for water, and this little bugger for my orange juice in the morning, and sometimes later at night i fill it with the bad stuff. no not alcohol, POP, but its awesome, it keeps your pop carbonated because of the cap. overall, its just like any other nalgene, just smaller. i think the best use for it would be to carry white rice for hiking though.

I prefer the wide mouth version even in the 16oz size. They're a lot easier to clean properly.

I wasn't sure if I would use the smaller size but it comes in handy if you are only going for a short hike or walk and it fits inside most of the jacket pockets without weighing you down.

Is the soft plastic part of the cap (the part that bends) strong enough to hook a carabiner and hang on your pack without breaking?

Yes, it is strong enough to do that.

I Have a bunch of 32oz nalgenes and have been looking for something smaller to fit in my pack. The 16oz is great if you don't fill up your entire bottle or just need to save on weight and space. Also it has a goat, nuff said.

I like the narrow mouth bottle much more for travel I spill on myself in car rides with the wide mouth. so if you are getting this bottle for travel I highly recommend getting the narrow neck version.

I couldn't get my wife to bring a large Nalgene around with her everywhere; she said it was just too big, and continued to use disposable bottles. This bottle is the answer! It's pretty much the same size as a disposable (same liquid capacity as a larger disposable), and fits conveniently in her purse. It's not a great option to use for any hike over a mile, but for around town, to work, and to school, it's great!

I bought 3 of these for my kids in an effort to be more earth friendly and stop purchasing bottled water. They're a great size, my young kids take them on our day hikes all the time.
