When you need to carry a lot of water without spilling any of it, look to the Nalgene 32oz Narrow Mouth Tritan Bottle. This burly bottle features a narrow mouth that prevents spills and keeps your liquids where they belong: in your bottle or in your mouth. This Nalgene resists odor and stains and has a loop-top cap that won’t get lost in your pack or dishwasher. No BPA means this bottle won’t poison you slowly, which is nice.

Little Known Tip

I have 4 of these. They rule.

I go car camping a lot, very often.

I fill 3 of these about 2/3 of the way full with water and freeze them before leaving. Using the frozen nalgenes in the cooler still keeps everything cold, but also super clean. You don't have 3' of water in the bottom of the cooler a day later like you do with a bag of ice.

Also, when hiking or out on adventure take one of the frozen bottles with you. It will melt slowly throughout the day but you can still sip on it and have real cold water all day, which is amazing especially in the desert.

Just do not fill them to full when you freeze them. The water will expand and the ice will burst the bottle.

    Perfect for the little ones!

Nalgene bottles are pretty much awesome already, and we own of the several wide mouth variety. Problem is, the kids often spill a whole bottle's worth of water down their fronts. And, while they don't mind wet shirts, we're then short on h2o.

The Narrow mouth Tritan bottle is an excellent addition we bought to hopefully stop that from happening, and it worked great!

Cons: Getting ice inside may be tricky depending on your ice shape (we're not ice people, so no biggy).

As with all Nalgene bottles, durability is wonderful, no BPA, and the cap is attached for good. We will keep buying them as we lose them or leave them at friend's houses (nobody ever returns them, especially the bottles sporting the BC Goat)

    Durable with less spills

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I live with a Nalgene attached to my hip, so they have to be built to laugh. From work to the crag they get beat up. This bottle lives up to abuse and easy to care for. Smaller mouth means less spills, although it's not as easy to fill up as the wider ones.

    Less Spillage

I own this and the wide mouth version as well, Nalgene Never disappoints. This bottle is perfect for just about everything and anything and is damn near indestructible. This Narrow mouth bottle helps prevent any spillage all over compared to the wide mouth. The only cons to the Narrow mouth as you may have read from the other comments is its a tad more difficult to wash compared to the Wide mouth version, and you cant put ice in it. Other than that this bottle is spot on and will last you a long time.

    Great bottle and no spills

I just got this bottle and I love the narrow mouth because it prevents any spills. Like the other reviews, it's a bummer to not be able to add any ice to it, but a few minutes in the freezer will fix that. I wouldn't say that I prefer it more than the wide mouth just because I like the easy hand cleaning for when I can't put it in a dishwasher, but still loving the easy access.

Love this nalgene with a goat on it and in pink! Love to bring a little girly fun to the outdoors. Will use it all the time.

Here is a shot of it at Upper Boyscout Lake on the Mt. Whitney Mountaineers Route.

      Cocktails on the beach.

I kinda prefer the narrow mouth to the wide mouth nalgenes.

I had owned a few from a decade plus ago and bought a few more for our trip to Hawaii even though the old ones were still going strong.

They are pretty much indestructible and only start to look like crap after being scratched up over the years.

I brought a few of these bottles to Hawaii and used them to hold cocktails in the soft cooler. $15 for a small crappy Mai Tai at our hotels bar and pool. No way in hell. I got 16 oz clear keg cups, 1 gallon zip lock bags to hold clean ice and the other accoutrements in the cooler, fresh limes, orange curacao, orgeat, light and dark rum, the accoutrements of maraschino cherries and slices of fresh pineapple. I squeezed and mixed the ingredients together and filled two nalgenes. In the third nalgene was the dark rum. Fill the cup with ice and fill it with your mai tai mix, add a cherry and a slice of pineapple, then top it of with a splash or two of dark rum. Easy and so much better than an over priced Mai tai made with that crappy pre bottled Mai tai mix. And.. You don't have to keep walking back from the beach to get your drinks back at the pool. Not to mention just sitting in the privacy of your own room, having cocktail hour on your own lanai and getting to watch the sunset.

These nalgenes are really useful in so many different ways, with the measurements on the side it makes it so easy to mix large quantities of booze together and get the ratios right.

Classic nalgene banger. Except you don't spill all over yourself because of the narrow mouth, at least for those of us who can't manage to go a day without sending it.

But more so, a water bottle has it's own story. Through the journeys you go, the bottle knows. The dents, the scratches and the views go along with.

The goat and the BPA free plastic chillin in the Refugio Frey during some epic patagonia wind.

        Just buy it already

Lets be honest, you know what a Nalgene bottle is. So with that covered, just buy the damn thing already.

Solid water bottle that can take my neglect and abuse like a champ.

        Love it

        • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Definitely my favorite no frills bottle. It's been dropped, kicked, sat on and tossed around like a beanbag. The narrow mouth prevents inadvertent spills but still allows for easy cleaning. This is my go to bottle for everyday and when out on the trail

Narrow mouth is the safest way to go

        • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Narrow mouthed Nalgenes are the safest way to go. I spill the wide mouthed ones all over myself. I have a ton of these but this one is a Backcountry.com exclusive! You know i'm getting this one!

        Simply the best

        • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

The best bottle I've ever used. I had the 1L camelbak bottle, but had several issues with leaking. Decided to get the Nalgene narrow mouth and haven't regretted it yet. Some things are better when they're simple.

Does anyone sell any decent quality holders or carriers for these water bottles? They seem good except for the fact that I cannot find any holder that will fit them. The wide-mouthed Nalgenes at least have some limited options, but these do not. Throwing one in the backpack seems as an inefficient use of space, and may backpack water bottle-holders seem ill-fitted for these and too low in height to securely hold them. I have had my bottles tumble out.

        Best Answer

depends on the size of your ice cubes, my roommate has one and simply turns the ice cubes on end and they fit (that is automatic ice cube maker ice). It would probably be difficult to fit tray ice cubes in the mouth. All else fails, go get some crushed ice from a friend with an expensive fridge.

I know Nalgene is using a new bpa-free polycarbonate for the newest bottles, but from what I've seen only in pictures the material looks different...softer. Are the bottles still virtually indestructable and thick?
