Description

Everything but the stove.

The MSR Quick 2 Cooking System provides a complete cooking and eating solution for two hungry backcountry-ites. With two pots (one non-stick and one hard anodized), a strainer lid, two DeepDish plates, and two insulated stainless steel mugs, the Quick 2 covers everything from the morning brew-up to the dinnertime face stuffing. The Talon pot grabber gives you a secure grip on the pots while you cook, and the entire package nests neatly inside the larger pot to fit in your pack.

My first trip, the coating began to chip off. Lesson learned: don't scoop up snow directly with the pot. But I guess I was a bit too rough.
The pot is very lightweight and simple. Fully packed, I can also squeeze in my stormproof matches & case, MSR Microrocket, and a salt & pepper shaker. So it works well!
One thing to note, the handle won't fold the lid shut if you're only using the inner, smaller pot. The lid really only works well for the larger, outer pot.

But I do recommend this product!

Pros:
Light weight
Good Construction
Can cook anything in them
Easily balances on a whisperlite.

Cons:
Handle heats up making it impossible to switch from one pot to the other fast.
The big pot is not non stick. This make no sense to me why you would want one to be non stick and the other not to be?
Cups are pretty much a waste of space. I took them out and put my stove in that space.

Hi Jeff,

Yes, the whole set is dishwasher safe, except the insulation on the cups. You would have to run the pots in the dishwasher many, many times to do any damage, and even still, all you would end up with is a slight fading of the anodized finish from the heat and detergent. Hope this helped you out.

Hi,

Can the pots go over a fire or is this out fit for stoves only?

You can use them over a camp stove or over a small directed fire, I don't think they'd do well in a raging bonfire. A bed of coals should be fine as well.

Being lightweight aluminum with a non-stick coating, MSR recommends only stove-fires. I wouldn't put it in a open fire either.

anybody use these pots with the Soto OD-1R stove? I read some comments about the domed bottom not working on small stoves?

These pots would work fine with the Soto and other similar canister-top stoves.

The MSR Quick 2 Cooking system is lightweight and useful. I ditched the two cups in order to nest my MSR Whisperlite International stove, MSR folding sporks, a salt & Pepper shaker, and a dish cleaning brush. The I have two complaints/recommendations for the cookset. The pots are too deep for cooking pancakes. The set would be better if it included a skillet. Also the nonstick pan isn't really all that nonstick, thus bringing the rating down to four stars. Overall a great buy and the best cookset I've owned.

Talk to MSR they may replace it for you on warranty or should at least be able to help you get a new one.
