Just returned from a 10
Just returned from a 10 day trip in NE Nevada. I had some windy nights and the hold was impressive.

Light but be careful in rocky terrain
Overall, I like these stakes because they are light and great for backpacking trips. However, I've already bent two of them just by using my body weight to insert them in rocky terrain (hiking in / around the AT). I should probably be more careful, but it's still irritating.

Short but light and string
Short but strong and light. Not long enough if ground is soft but perfect in solid soil

Best light ground stakes I've used
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These are the best light ground stakes. But yeah. There are better stakes out there but they are much heaver / better suited to car camping. For my backpacking these are perfect! There is a reason everyone recommends these. I'm using these with my Lunar Solo tent for backpacking / Volbiv

Light Weight but not Indestructible
I purchased these to lighten the load of my pack. I was expecting the shape of the aluminium stakes to make them as durable as heavier steel stakes. Too bad one shattered the first time I drove it into the hard soil. I wouldn't recommend using this stake in hard soils.

I have bought these more than once and will continue to.
I use the stakes all the time and they're great. They always drive in easy and I have never bent one.

Lightweight and durable
So far so good, used four of these on my rainfly on a rainy five night backpacking trip and was happy with how they worked. For small stakes they held well in a soft forest duff layer.

These groundhogs will never see their shadow...
'cause they stay in the ground. I was a little apprehensive about ordering the mini-groundhog stakes, rather than the full-sized version, concerned that they may be a compromise in holding strength vs weight. But so far these have not let me down. Holding strong in both firm gravel camp sites, and medium dense soil, they can take a pounding from a small rock, or wood chunk to drive them home, and stay where you put them. The notched aluminum at the top of the stake easily holds rain fly line or tent loops in place, and the red line makes them easy to spot on the ground. We replaced our tent's stock steel round rod stakes with these mini-groundhogs and are very happy with their performance.

Lightweight
Lightweight and compact. Hold well in the ground as well. Good little piece of gear.
