Get out in the backcountry, in comfort.

Don't miss out on your next trek through a winter wonderland due to improper footwear. Throw the Women's Lightning Ascent Snowshoes on your boots and stride through the snow with confidence. The decks are made from durable ballistic nylon to make sure they're tough enough to handle just about anything. 360-degree traction frames ensure a solid grip on any surface, while the Torsion2 crampons combine to offer stability on steep, sideways, or flat terrain. PosiLock AT bindings are an excellent blend of stability and support, and the Ergo Televator heel risers prevent your calves from cramping up during extended periods of uphill traffic. If the snow gods see fit to reward you with lots of fluffy goodness, throw the modular flotation tails on the back (flotation tails sold separately) for extra float, especially when using a heavy pack.

    This is THE snowshoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Walking in these are like walking on air. I am a guy, but have very small, narrow feet and a narrow gait so I brought the women's model. Lesson learned after buying my first pair that weren't the proper size/fit for me. Used them this weekend at Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park. Luckily, the weather was nice when we arrived so we opted to do the ranger-led snowshoe hike before setting up camp behind the parking lot. While people using other snowshoes often slipped on minor downhill sections, these were more than sturdy. It's true that it's much harder when breaking trail, but the lightweight, streamlined design of the MSR Lightning's made things a lot more efficient. When we turned back, I was pretty much on the ranger's toes while many other people were following much more slowly. These let you go as fast as you can up to the point where walking becomes jogging! The slimmer profile makes them a lot easier to balance on & control, especially on a narrow trail or during high leg lifts.

f you've got any questions about MSR snowshoes or any other pairs; definitely contact me and I'd love to help you find the right pair for your size, intended use, and region.

I've used the Lightning Ascents (Men's versions) for years now and they've never failed me. When other struggle on ice or bad terrain, I'm able to forge on and have no issues. And the float on these is great in deep snow. The Women's are built just as rugged and bomb proof but at 0.75" narrow on each shoe to better suit the female build.

    Anna,

I'm originally from New Hampshire, so I'm all too familiar with the heavy snow / icey conditions you can encounter. I never had an issue with these snowshoes. As long as they are sized correctly then you'll be all set for them to perform great.

    Excellent performance!

This snowshoe is 100% worth the cost. I climbed many steeps in some firm but mostly loose snow conditions and the traction was great with no slipping. Multiple securing straps are helpful - depending on the style gaiter used you may have to adjust where the strap crosses your boot.
